Swipe for the before and after as we set interviews working with @artphilly2026 for Executive Producer @davesilver__

The challenge was getting all the interviewees in one spot. Once we found “the spot”, we decided to go with a blank canvas backdrop. Never knew cocoa could look so good! In 5 weeks we pulled together the city coverage, 2 events, interviews, and delivery of 7 video assets.

Hiking Mount Washington ⛰️ from two perspectives 🥾

What does one of the most challenging hikes in the country look like from two different angles? 6,000 feet of elevation, 10 miles, and 10 hours later…we get to find out 🥵

Most photos are from the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail & the Jewell Trail. We also did a shorter (6 mile) trail the day before called the Arethusa Falls and Frankenstein Cliff Loop, and stopped at Echo Lake for a dip in the pond.

You have to be really careful hiking Mt Washington. It’s known to have some of the highest wind speeds in the world during certain seasons. The temperatures can change dramatically from the start of the trail to reaching the summit, and if you don’t check the forecast, you could be met with severely dangerous storms above the tree line.

All that to say, this hike was super challenging and a ton of fun. Great views, awesome town, and another big hike checked off the bucket list with my brother @blackbeltbrenner1. taken in Mount Washington, NH by @davesilver__

Last week, @davesilver__ hosted a panel at Fitler Club for an honest and thoughtful conversation around his new book, Life’s a Hike.

Dave may not consider himself an “author,” but he wrote this book with a clear purpose: to share the lessons he learned from entrepreneurship, identity, transition, and starting over.

As the co-founder of REC Philly, Dave spent more than a decade building one of Philadelphia’s most influential creative communities. But this conversation was not just about building something. It was about what happens when you decide to let go, reflect, and redefine what comes next.

A few themes stood out:

1. Your personal values matter. Decide what they are, revisit them often, and let them guide the next chapter.

2. Your vision of entrepreneurship will change. Success is not always about scale. Sometimes it is about alignment, purpose, and doing work that feels true to you.

3. Sometimes, growth requires learning how not to give a f**k — not in a careless way, but in a freeing way. The kind that allows you to create, share, move forward, and stop letting perception control your path.

Thank you to Dave Silver for bringing this conversation to Fitler Club and for reminding us that reinvention is not a failure. It is often the beginning of the most honest version of the journey.

Operating a business can quickly turn a creative passion into a job, and then that job can turn into a job we do not enjoy.

I can only speak for my journey, but I experienced this firsthand over the last decade.

I am extremely grateful for what we built over the years, but the wear & tear of business operations can really burn you out.

That was one of the reasons I decided to write my book, ‘Life’s a Hike’. It was my first swing at getting back into my creative rhythm.

You don’t need a title to start creating✍️✨

In this clip, Dave Silver @davesilver__ talks about writing his book Life’s A Hike and the mindset shift that came with it.

For him, it wasn’t just about publishing a book. It was about proving something deeper: you don’t have to call yourself an “author” to write one.

So often people get stuck in identity labels… I’m not that, so I can’t do that.

Dave shares that he’s in a season of life where he’s letting go of that thinking. If something feels right, brings joy, and feels worth exploring, then he’s doing it.

And that’s the message behind the book: stop waiting for permission from an identity you haven’t even claimed yet.

There’s no rulebook for this. Just creation, curiosity, and courage.

Maybe the thing you’ve been holding back on isn’t about talent… it’s about permission you don’t actually need.

My last music post, and one of my last posts about my January travels & adventures for now. It has been a unique experience sharing a different/creative side of my life - but I hope I’ve encouraged others to share more of the things that bring them joy, even if they don’t identify as a ‘musician’ or an ‘artist’ or even a ‘creative’. If you enjoy doing it...do it. And maybe even share it...as you never know who or what it could inspire.

Anyways, the last song we wrote in Costa Rica is called ‘Turn to You’. It’s a song about your relationship with ‘God’ or a ‘Higher Power’ — and no matter how many times things go right or wrong, we still ‘turn to you’. There are a few fun layers and melodies all throughout the song, so if you care to listen to the full thing, I do have it posted on my website :)

What if your biggest failure is actually pointing you toward your biggest success? ⛰️✨

In this clip, Dave Silver @davesilver__ shares a perspective that completely changed the way I think about failure.

The people who succeed aren’t the people who avoid failure… they’re the people who see failure as a stepping stone.

Dave has experienced plenty of setbacks throughout his career, but looking back, he’s grateful for every one of them. In fact, he says he’s in the best place he’s ever been in his adult life because of the lessons those failures taught him.

One of the biggest examples? REC Philly was born because the record label he tried to build failed.

Had that first venture worked out, REC might never have existed.

Sometimes failure isn’t the end of the story… it’s the thing redirecting you toward the story you’re actually meant to live.
