As I was scrolling through all of the birthday wishes you sent, Jenna asked why I was smiling. I told her because I’m hearing from the people I love. Recalling memories we shared, conversations we’ve had, no matter how in-depth or whether we were just joking around, I am blessed that you took the time to message me. Friends, families, coworkers, colleagues, even if our interactions are when you won a pair of tickets from me on B-93. You are all part of my story and I am grateful. Even Derek Benson (but to a much lesser degree). So, in honor of our friendship, I have a present for you. Enjoy the video. Everyday I watch this woman give tirelessly of herself. There are days when I can tell life has thrown everything at her, and she just wants to bury her head, but then Kyler walks into the room with one of his “Kyler requests,” and without fail she is once again putting others in front of her own needs. I hear other parents talk about the trials of dealing with their teenagers, but then I watch she and Jenna together and think how she has forged this strong bond, they share everything, including shoes.

And while this day is about her and her children, her generosity extends way beyond those that live in our house. She feels called to help families with a meal, she volunteers her time to head the school lunch program, and of course makes lunch for me, and a few co-workers everyday.

She lives for our children. She lives to help others. I wish sometimes she would take time for herself, and even is she did I know she would stop if she felt someone needed something.

If you know her, you know that life has thrown a lot at her the last several years. Yet, she pushes through. She is strong. I don’t know if I could handle things the same way if presented with similar challenges.

As my wife, the mother of our children, a daughter who is always there to help, a sister who loves her family like no other, and a friend who you can always rely on…I am in awe of you KT Joy. I wish there was a day I could give you that would be equal to what you give all of us everyday. by @davetaftgr

Was this originally just called “loaf”? And what adaptations over time made people say, “man I wish I had some of that loaf like grandma had”? Did they discontinue the “new loaf?” I’ve never heard of “loaf” at the deli counter. by @davetaftgr
