It’s always been a bucket list dream of mine to voice a character in an animation. I pictured someone more in the Ed, Edd n Eddy / Beavis & Butthead realm, or maybe a Patrick Star type, since my voice feels way more suited to that vibe 😂. Instead, I ended up as… a 50-year-old NASA Director in Korea’s first Netflix feature animation.

Honestly, I’m still not sure how well I fit the role—hyper-critical me always thinks they could’ve cast someone “more suited.” But it was such an honor to be trusted with the part by our amazing director. Plus, I had a blast voicing some extra characters that felt much more my style 😆.

It wasn’t a huge role, but it was meaningful enough to keep that spark alive—reminding me why I keep going on in this wild industry halfway around the world in Korea.

From the very first table read, sitting with some of Korea’s top voice actors and huge stars like Kim Tae-ri & Hong Kyung, I was humbled (and a bit intimidated). At first, I didn’t feel like I belonged at that table. But as we went on, I realized just how much fun I have doing things like this as a foreigner in another country—and how much I love this unconventional path I’ve taken.

Anyway, I ramble—but it was an amazing experience with amazing people and am so thankful to have been trusted with it from the amazing director @yaha_han ❤️❤️

This post is quite late but here are some BTS and fun memories of the experience :)

Seoul Bus Stops Are Amazing!🤩🚌

AC blasting in the summer, heaters in the winter, heat controlled seats, TVs, digital billboards, emergency contact services, phone chargers, and screens showing real-time bus information. They even have live cameras so you can see when your bus is coming!

Every time I visit Seoul, these futuristic bus stops never fail to impress me.🇰🇷

Free Public Bug & Air Spray 💨🌲🦟

It’s little details like these that I love about Korea. 🇰🇷

At many public hiking areas, you’ll find free bug spray at the start of the trail, and air spray stations at the end to dust yourself off after your hike. You can even find these air stations at many public beaches!💨

Such a small thing, but so convenient.

Next time you’re hiking in Korea, keep an eye out for these! 👀🥾
