Since Oct. 5, 2014, the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial has stood in Washington, D.C., as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices made by veterans who were wounded or became ill during their service.

Today on the memorial’s anniversary, we remember its significance, the veterans it honors and the impact that military service can leave on veterans.

Breast cancer affects veterans, too. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re highlighting what veterans should know about breast healthcare through VA.

There is a clear path forward: the House Discharge Petition includes the full Major Richard Star Act – without cutting veterans benefits. The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act includes a reduced compromise version. Congress should never take benefits away from one group of veterans to pay for another. by @davhq

On Gold Star Mother's Day, we pause to honor the mothers whose lives have been forever changed by the loss of a son or daughter in military service.

No words can ease the weight of that sacrifice, but we can ensure their loved ones are never forgotten. Today, we recognize the extraordinary strength, resilience and love of Gold Star Mothers, while remembering the servicemembers whose courage and selfless sacrifice continue to inspire our nation.

DAV Chapter 26 of Huntsville, Alabama, continued its commitment to serving women veterans by hosting its third annual Women Veterans Resource Fair on Women Veterans Recognition Day. Working alongside the Huntsville VA Clinic and nearly 30 community organizations, chapter members welcomed women veterans for a day focused on connection, support and access to valuable resources.
