“Choro for Lulo” - written by @itamarerezmusic

I’ve been spending some time with Itamar’s music recently, and this piece has been a real joy to work on - especially for right-hand control and getting deeper into the choro feel.

If you don’t know Itamar’s music, definitely check him out. He’s a fantastic guitarist and pianist.

And for my guitar students: he also has some excellent exercises and études available covering a variety of different levels, which are well worth looking into.

“New Beginnings” is out today!

I wanted to share this piece during what’s been a challenging time in the world.
It comes from a deep sense of hope — that something can begin to shift for the better, even before it’s visible on the surface.

It was really meaningful to play in the house band at the Tower of David as part of Awake Jerusalem, at the close of Simchat Torah — three years on from October 7.

Here’s a little moment from the evening with the talented @israelportnoymusic . It was a privilege to see people gathering in Jerusalem from around the world, and especially good to share the evening with some old friends I hadn’t seen in years — including the one and only @deejonesofficial l , featured here on keys. Love this guy!

And a big shout-out to @natjamesworld, who came out all the way from the UK. We go way back!

My summer project got a little out of hand… 😆🔨

Over the summer I upgraded my home studio — acoustic panels, a timber slat wall, and a removable window plug to improve the room acoustically and help reduce outside noise.

And because we’re in a rental apartment, everything had to be designed to come apart again — probably one of the biggest challenges of the build.

A huge thanks to my father-in-law, Jonathan, for the woodworking expertise, and to my wife, Sarah, for patiently letting the apartment become a building site for a while.

It’s finally starting to feel like the studio I had imagined — a better space for recording, filming, and as a backdrop for new guitar courses I’ll be starting to release soon. by @david_niskin

Enjoyed playing with @yaarabeeri and @oudan88 at תצריף Festival @yad_ben_zvi in Jerusalem.

One of the things I love about playing live is hearing how the music settles in during soundcheck — and then takes on a new level of energy once there’s an audience.

A beautiful study in right-hand control, articulation, and rhythmic feel.

This is another moment from “Choro for Lulo” by @itamarerezmusic, and inspired by @luloreinhardt - a piece I’ve really loved working on.

This piece became, in many ways, an attempt to continue creating in the midst of interruption and uncertainty from the outside world. There’s something hopeful in that.
