Some pictures from last weeks fantastic @royalacademyarts Summer Exhibition varnishing day.

So lovely to see and get to spend the day celebrating with so many friends and fellow artists. Congratulations to everyone who had work included and looking forward to a fun filled summer of art.

My pinhole work Equivalent is hung in Gallery IV, selected by coordinator Humphrey Ocean RA.

The exhibition is open all summer until the 23rd August. Let me know if you visit as it would be lovely to see you there.

Just back from a wonderful week in LA at the @laartshow with @metauart and their curated show After the human. After technology.

Lots of great, and often in-depth, conversations on our potential tech, data, and AI-driven, but hopefully increasingly human-centric present-futures inspired by Oracle II (Superintelligence existential risks, mitigations & outcomes) and new large scale Oracle II touch screen simulator developed for the LA and forthcoming Silicon Valley shows.

Thank you to Fiona at @metauart and everyone who came by to engage with the works and share their thoughts. Thanks also to Nick Land for his coding for the new simulator 🙏

Our House Curation team work with contemporary artists from within and outside the Fellowship to explore topics which endure throughout our archive collections and to encourage conversation between the two.

This digital piece, Oracle II, by @davidastonart, which examines the implications of AI on our daily lives, continues a long societal tradition of considering the impact of design and new technology on wider society. Until recently, the physical model sat on display in our Long Gallery at @rsahouse.

Oracle II (Superintelligence existential risks, mitigations & outcomes), is a sculptural Artificial Intelligence (AI) Superintelligence future prediction simulator. An oracle and work of AI gamification made to simulate AI future scenarios using the latest data from research into AI existential risks, mitigations and societal impacts. It is the second in a series of sculptural and digital Oracle future prediction simulators.

London Art Collective presents the large-scale international group exhibition ArtEvol 2025: Voices from the Undefined. In its fifth edition, ArtEvol explores shifting boundaries between technology and the body, self and other, real and fictional, activating new creative languages and reimagining the relationship between art and reality.

New work - Future of Species (By man made means).

Future is an original 2nd edition of Darwin’s The Descent of Man in John Murray binding, identical in format to the first edition of Origin of Species. The book has been embossed with new front and back plates, so that when it is displayed spine up it becomes a triptych depicting the transition from the Origin of Species to the Future of Species, via The Descent of Man.

Since Murray published Darwin’s books the focus has shifted from past to future; from the origin to the future prospects of our own and all other species that live on our increasingly man-made planet.

The companion to The Anthropocene Globe, it’s been hiding in a sketch book for the last five years. So it’s lovely to see it finally made, framed and delivered to the RA this morning for the final round of judging for the summer exhibition.

Embossing and signing one of my lesser spotted pinhole photographs. Those of you who know me well know that I love early and experimental photography but I rarely show them. Nice to see this beautiful pinhole heading over to Dublin for the Royal Hibernian Academy’s 195th Annual Exhibition. by @davidastonart

First share is Oracle II sculpture & digital simulators.

Oracle II (Superintelligence: Existential Risks, Mitigations and Outcomes) simulates AI future scenarios using real data from the latest research into AI existential risks, mitigations and impacts.
