The dreamiest night ever with the Bodie Island Lighthouse. The Milky Way was utterly ethereal, glittering across the night sky. I’m super proud of these photos, it was simultaneously challenging and exhilarating to photograph! These photos taught me so much about photography, it was a joy to learn even more about my favorite hobby. Special thanks to my brother @a.aron.bailey for joining me on this awesome expedition, the mosquitos were worth it😅. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Congratulations to the most incredible person ever @riley_shay02 on graduating! It has been a joy to be alongside you, not only just to take photos :) The places you will go will be amazing, and you will go and do amazing things!

We decided on bubbles instead of confetti for the photos and I think they look so much better! These were really fun to take, golden hour decided to show up for my golden girl! by @davidbaileyimages

I always love being graced by Barred Owls. It was so funny to see this large owl being mobbed my a tiny hummingbird and not really caring. I didn’t know hummingbirds felt so strongly about owls!

Even the tiniest critters stretch! The branch he’s sitting on is about the thickness of pencil. It always amazes me to see how much variety the Aves class has. by @davidbaileyimages

🦉Barred Owls are so funny, and so curious! This guy moved from a perch to a lower branch to get a better look at me while I passed by. I found a nice clearing in the woods which allowed for some interesting leaves to sort of form a nice green bokeh in the foreground.

Fun fact, their eyes are not spherical, but somewhat elongated and tube shaped. Their eyes also take up about 75% of their skull space, compared to only about 5% for us. Weird.

What kind of owls have you seen?

The wild horses in Corolla, NC! I had the absolute pleasure to spend a day with my fiancée @riley_shay02 traveling all over outer banks capturing these lovely photos. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

You can see these photos, as well as many more on my new website, davidnc.com. Please let me know what you think! taken in Corolla, NC, Outer Banks by @davidbaileyimages

Milky Way rising over an endless pier.

Both of these photos took a lot of planning but I and super stoked with these results! At the end of a long, long road sits a pier that seems to stretch all the way out to the horizon. I’ve been after these shots for a while but haven’t had the opportunity yet until the other night. I sat with my camera at blue hour, watching the milky way slowly and subtly reveal as the sunset dimmed into the dark of night. The splendor of the night sky is abundantly apparent here, and I really hope you love these as much as I do! taken in Eastern North Carolina by @davidbaileyimages

Teeny Carolina Chickadee! It almost looks like they have tiny little helmets on, so silly.
