I’m here, up in the sky, lost in my own thoughts, with a sadness and frustration that are hard to face. Somehow, I know that in the future this will bring our community even closer, once we’re able to accept it and move forward together.What a real slap in the face from reality. It’s heartbreaking to read all the stories. I’m truly sorry for everyone involved.From the outside, it can look like just “a party” being cancelled or postponed. But anyone who shares the same deep love for the harder styles as I do knows what Defqon.1 really means in our lives.And today is one of the hardest days.For half of my life (!) I’ve chased my dreams on this holy ground.Being at Defqon.1 has always reminded me why I make music, why I try to express my soul through it, and why being on stage, guiding you through an emotional journey, means so much to me. Seeing your reactions with my own eyes and feeling how music brings so many people together in such a deep way is something truly unique.I’m going to miss that feeling so much.Like all the artists, the crew, and everyone involved in the production, I worked hard to give you a moment to remember. And I also know how many sacrifices people make to travel from all over the world just to be here: the dreams, the excitement, counting down the days until the gates open…But none of this can come before a real emergency that puts people’s lives at risk.So many times we read about tragedies and ask why nobody acted before it was too late.The stage collapse in the USA, the people trapped at Loveparade… the list of tragedies is heartbreaking. A huge thank you to Q-dance and the authorities for making this incredibly difficult, but necessary, decision.I also think we all need to understand how our planet is changing, and find the best way to adapt while doing more to preserve it for future generations.We’ll recover from this.We’ll reunite again because of this.And next time I’ll put even more into preparing something special, because this scene is made by all of us, and I truly believe this forced stop will bring us even closer.Forever a tribe.Davide 🧡 by @davidesonar
