Another incredible stop on the Cleanup America Tour, and another reminder of what happens when people come together to serve their community.

From cleaning up our surroundings to face painting, new friendships and conversations with families, this weekend was about more than an event. It was about people.

One of the most meaningful moments was presenting Sergeant Ann Dorn with the Outstanding Heroes Award.

After the loss of her husband, Captain David Dorn, Ann has continued their family’s legacy of service. It was a privilege to recognize her dedication and the example she continues to set.

I’m incredibly proud of everyone who gave their time, energy and talents to make this event possible.

Real community is built by people who show up for one another.

And sometimes, the smallest acts of service leave the greatest impression.

Grateful for this team, the friendships and another opportunity to serve.

“How will I die to myself today?” In the discovery that life is indifferent in permitting you to waste away in the dimension of time we have been confined to, we must ask ourselves this sobering question.

“How will I die today?”

Our Heavenly Father is infinite - not constrained to the dimension of time as we are, but is himself beginning and end. This means he has seen your todays and your tomorrows. He has a path which he has created you for, yet the heavens wait in expectation for the day we would come into agreement with his plan for your life.

Life is but a vapor. Here today, gone tomorrow. Will I come into agreement with God’s will for my life today? Have I lived absorbed myself in the Lord or within myself? What lives have I missed due to my pride?

Every moment is a choice.

Will I feed my flesh or my spirit? To be frank with you, I have done a poor job at choosing the spirit at times, yet I choose to press onward knowing that I live in the position of forgiven and that it is by Jesus’s work alone that he justified me as a Saint - yet it is the daily choices I must make to walk out sanctification.

I know I cannot do it alone, we were never created to - my ask is that you join me in asking this very question when you rise every morning: “How will I die to myself today, and Jesus how can I put you first?”

Ever forward, Beloved. Walk out your call as a Saint.

Beyond humbled to finish my tenure as the Commander of Detachment 2, 4-108th Chemical Battalion.

This group of highly skilled and qualified mighty men and women taught me what leadership is about. I have been under many forms of leadership, and frankly I’ve met many consumed with their own spotlight, promotion, played favorites, or only worried about the numbers.

When I showed up to my first drill as a fresh 2LT, the Major who was in command told me “I’m retiring and this is my last drill. We think you’ll do just fine.” Internally I was ready to panic, and I knew I had two options: walk in like I own the place or walk in honestly and humbly. Thank God I chose the latter.

Over time, I learned that leadership is not about having every answer or controlling every micro-managerial detail. It is about having the humility to entrust and empower the sharpest minds around you to have a voice, and taking decisive action on their input. True collaboration builds trust and camaraderie, turning routine moments into opportunities for shared success and fulfillment.

To my NCO’s, I am endlessly proud of who you are and who you continue to become. Thank you for sharpening me as a leader, and I am excited to take these lessons with me as I transition to my next leadership role in TN.

Everyone wants the glory of the mountain top, yet will we be faithful to the Lord in the valley?

In the middle of the wilderness season, I faced hardships, trials, heartbreaks, failures, and even got to the point where I wanted to give up on God. Yet, I have encountered such richness in His mercy and grace beyond understanding.

Frankly, I fell short most of the time—yet I cling to the truth that a righteous man falls seven times and gets up the eighth. When the world seems against you, take confidence in knowing that God is for you and that He is working everything for your benefit AND His glory.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.“ James 1

Before I got to where I am now, God led me on a humbling 3.5-year journey to do everything I swore I would never do in my life—one of those was becoming a teacher. And how wrong I was.

Leading and stewarding the hearts and minds of the youth is the greatest blessing, watching them grow up with the desire to surpass even you. Summer is past its halfway point, and as they prep for their next school year, I miss them dearly.

So proud of each of my special 104 6th graders as they walk forward boldly. It was an absolute honor to lead them (and mostly just goof off, let’s be real), because the Lord knew teaching was the exact step I needed to propel me into my role today.

Despite my subpar climbing skills, I’ve experienced the Holy Spirit’s grace in the upward climb of navigating the mountains of life.

Jesus, you call me to live with unconditional love, yet you also call me to guard my heart - how are both possible, Lord?

These are the questions I am learning to ask the Holy Spirit for every person I meet:
- How do you see this person, God?
- What is the relational dynamic of this person in my life?
- To what capacity am I to be vulnerable with this person?
- What are the boundaries I am to set in place for myself concerning this person?

You may think that these boundaries and safety net questions may limit your freedom, yet they are the exact guard rails which the Lord desires to protect you and keep your feet from slipping and eyes from distractions - when the Lord gives you the direct answer of what dynamic a person you have in your life, you are given the free will to either be obedient to what the Lord guides or the free will to break those boundaries, and we must take responsibility for our own actions.

Whose burdens are you carrying? Whose achievements are you chasing?
Are these the desires the Lord placed within you, or are they expectations others have placed upon you? Our life is but a vapor—we cannot carry our earthly striving with us.
This isn’t about a “pity party.” My prayer is simply that you walk in peace and love in every single moment. Don’t miss the beauty that is already right in front of you.
I remember the day the Holy Spirit shut the door on my past. I was back on campus, a year after graduation, helping a friend with a film project. As I walked that evening, I felt a burden I hadn’t realized I was carrying: the heavy weight of status, popularity, and empty achievement.
In a single moment, the Lord allowed me to see the last five years in their entirety. I realized how many burdens I had created for myself and others because I wasn’t walking in His love. I was blinded by pride and selfish pursuits.
I can’t change the past, but I am so grateful for the clarity. I’m choosing to walk forward in freedom, grounded in the lessons learned.

Welcome to Expectations vs Reality. Starting as a personal project in 2023, this series is a reflection of my adventure with the Lord where he led me into every single thing I swore I would never do in my life. This journey would be one of an extensive pruning process where I have had to learn, and begrudgingly at times, to trust him in this season.

I had no idea how long this season would last, and to be frank with you it has been painful. I have experienced much let down and much heartbreak over the life that I expected to live, yet over this season I have gained such refreshed perspective that I feel led to share.

Maybe in each episode you’ve felt and experienced similar circumstances as myself - my goal is not to put on a show, but to invite an open atmosphere of authenticity, vulnerability, and a renewing mindset as we walk together with Christ.
