For the fourth year, YBG ChoreoFest is co-curated by David Herrera Performance Company (Artistic Director David Herrera) and PUSH Dance Company (Associate Artistic Director Ashley Gayle). 🌳💃🏽 See where the dance takes you. Here’s everything you need to know before joining us for Day 1 of YBG ChoreoFest this Saturday.⌚️ Come EarlyGive yourself time to find the first performance site. Limited seating will be available for seniors and guests who need it.📍 Move Through the GardensEach 15–20 minute performance takes place at a different site. The full route covers about 0.5–1 mile, with staff and volunteers leading the way. All paths are ADA accessible.👟 Dress for the RouteWear comfortable shoes and bring water, sunscreen and layers. You’ll be moving between performances.🤟🏿 ASL InterpretationASL interpretation will be provided at every performance site.🤳🏽 Take Photos MindfullyPhotos are welcome. Meet Meaghan Novoa @novoadances! Member of the 2026 National cohort of our LatinXtensions program.Meaghan Novoa (they/she) is a choreographer based in Atlanta, GA. Their work is influenced by their Jewish and Colombian heritage and centers queer and neurodivergent narratives.Novoa's work has been commissioned by Idaho Dance Theatre, Room To Move Dance Company, and Monica Hogan Dance Works, and has been featured in festivals including the Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, Fall for Fall Dance Festival, and BeltLine After Dark.They are a grant recipient from the Boise City Department of Arts & History, Idaho Commission on the Arts, A&E Atlanta, City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, and South Arts.Most recently, they were awarded the 2024–2025 Emerging Artist Award from the City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. Meet Sandy Perez @sandiaperez_! Member of the 2026 National cohort of our LatinXtensions program.Sandy is multigenre movement artist from Chicagoland who began her professional dance career in Nashville in 2022. Sandy focuses on telling the stories of her communities through the themes of her work and choices of expression. She worked as a company member with DancEast Collective, Found Movement Group, and Southern Black Arts. She has presented work at Kindling Arts Festival, the Animata Arts Residency showcase, and Oz Arts’ Brave New Works Lab with Arelys Hernandez. In Chicago, she has had the privilege of working under Chih-Jou Cheng, Philip Wood, Silvita Diaz and Dani Oblitas- touring Un/Rerooted all the way to San Fransisco for FACT. She danced with 773 Dance Project, Mandala Arts, and focused her training in street styles while working as a work study at Rhythmhood this past year taking top 16 in waacking and house battles. Meet Kat Mercado! Member of the 2026 National cohort of our LatinXtensions program.Kat Mercado is a freestyle mover, artist, facilitator, and curator based in Portland, Oregon. Her movement journey began in childhood, learning rhythm and foundational vocabulary from community members through Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, New Jack Swing, and Dancehall. She later expanded her training through Ballet and Modern before diving deeply into Street and Club styles, including Hip Hop, House, Whacking, and Punking.Kat has trained intensively with Hip Hop teams in Salt Lake City through Millennium Dance Complex, leading to opportunities both on stage and on screen—most notably appearing on Disney’s Andi Mack.In addition to performing, Kat is dedicated to building community through dance.
