St. Paul’s Chapel, one block away from 9/11 site. After the terrorist attack many New Yorkers, first responders, and those who worked so hard during debris removal came to this chapel for quiet reflection. Returning home the azalea at our kitchen window was in full bloom. Crown molding installed—this cabinet is complete. by @davidhoffecker

Thursday we went to the World Trade site and 9/11 Museum. The photos speak for themselves. We both noticed how quiet folks were and how many languages we heard at the site. Robin and I recalled where we were when we heard of the attack and how each of us spent the rest of that day. By the time I retired in 2016, none of my students at CCA had any memory of 9/11 and how it change everyday life in this country. Last two photos—not every building in Manhattan is a tall gleaming skyscraper. This was our third trip to NYC—each marked by beautiful music, enjoyment of visual art and/or other examples of human creativity, and moments of sober reflection. by @davidhoffecker

Gorgeous fall weather in New York. We walked in Central Park. Note sunlight reflecting off glass skyscraper—it produced a double shadow of folks walking by as we sat on a bench. You can still get your shoes shined on the streets of NYC. Lunch at Angelo’s—tasty paninis. Here we are at the Gershwin Theatre to see “Wicked”—great show with a happy ending. Thursday we took the Hop-on-hop-off bus around lower Manhattan—a little too chilly for us to sit on the open top deck. We boarded at m&m store and sat in seats set aside for us. And of course it wouldn’t be manhattan without scaffolding everywhere. by @davidhoffecker

Off to New York City for a concert and a show! Rockefeller ice rink already in operation—young skaters with a penguin or a dad for stability. Lego Store, Bryant Park, Times Square, and seats at Carnegie Hall for Mahler Symphony No. 3 with the Philadelphia Orchestra—WOW—fantastic performance. And the acoustics! Perfect blend, every note crystal clear. by @davidhoffecker
