Today our world got turned upside down. Our beautiful boy Chester Perry Kerr gained his angel wings so suddenly. We were on our daily walk, just like any other day and then suddenly he was gone.

With no warnings or signs. DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) is an awful disease that unfortunately is hereditary to Chesters breed. We wouldn’t have know that this was something Chester had as we never tested him. Mostly because there is no cure for the disease and also there are no indicators that he would have it.

Once diagnosed, dogs may only live 3-6 months so we are unsure exactly when this would have began for him but know that his last months, weeks and days were filled with love, trust and chicken just as Chester wanted. Again there were no warning signs. I’ve been asking myself if we had of known this was his last Christmas with us would I have changed anything and honestly I wouldn’t. He had the BEST day yesterday, opening presents, playing with his new toys and taking it in turns to try out his siblings beds.

Chester Perry Kerr I hope you know what you mean to us. That your daddy tried everything known to man to save you today. That you changed our lives for the better. That you made our family complete. That you made coming home everyday more precious with your wee face waiting at the door. That you provided us unconditional love that we’ve never felt before.

We love you, Chester.
We love you, Chicken Dinner Pie.
We love you, our little baby.
We love you, always always.
