Slow Motion presents:
HARRY CHARLES live

It's time to introduce the headliner of our next event on Oct 2nd at @_xchc, a night with beautiful music with no rough edges from start to finish. Don't be too slow to miss out on tickets for this.

@harrycharles___ is a musician, producer, and live electronic artist with over a decade of experience spanning guitar, songwriting, and electronic production. After finding his footing as an artist in the New Zealand music scene, Harry moved to Berlin in 2014, where he spent years performing as both a solo artist and session musician. His Berlin years produced a string of releases, including his debut album In The Light Of The Open Door and EPs One Seven One and On Film & In Life, on labels including Serafin Audio Imprint, Klassified Records, and Underyourskin Records. It was in Berlin that he evolved from songwriter into a fully-fledged producer, developing a sound rooted in downtempo, organic house, and live instrumentation.

Now based back in Aotearoa, Harry released his sophomore album Movement in 2025 on Loop Electronic, signalling an exciting new chapter in his career. A 10-track body of work incorporating sounds of downtempo, electronic and organic house alongside more intimate songwriting and ambient compositions, the album moves seamlessly between worlds with live guitar and vocals woven throughout. Described as "a quiet master craftsman in the world of electronic music," Movement established Harry as one of New Zealand's most distinctive voices in electronic music.

His follow-up album Nova marks a new direction. Written in the months immediately after Movement, the record was conceived specifically for the festival stage, tighter, more direct, and built for dancefloors without sacrificing the warmth and emotion that define his sound. Melodic, euphoric, and alive, Nova is Harry's most immediate and kinetic work to date.

Slow Motion returns to XCHC with a live set from Harry Charles (AKL)

@harrycharles___ is an Auckland producer who spent several years in Berlin, and the German city's organic house and downtempo scene left its fingerprints all over his music.

Someone on the dancefloor at our last event said it best: every track is what usually gets played at the end of the night. End of night tracks all night long. That’s a big part of the DNA of Slow Motion events. Beautiful, fluffy music, without any sharp edges. Like a warm and cozy hug.

We keep it below 115 BPM throughout the night, weaving musical journeys from downtempo, organic/melodic house, into break, trip hop, cumbia, lofi, ambient and beyond.

The magic lies in what happens between the beats, encouraging dancers to get curious how their bodies want to respond and move to the melody and rhythm. Slow doesn't mean low energy - quite the opposite, our acts always bring a scintillating and novel kind of energy. The energy of the tortoise rather than the hare.

Slow Motion 04 - a chill rave 🐌 ✨

Two days to go until we dance again to delicious slow grooves. We jetlagged sloths have taken our time to put together this showcase of the three DJs who are playing on Friday night. Set times will be announced soon.

Friday August 28th - 8pm till late

What is a chill rave? Our main point of difference is that we keep the tempo of the music below 115 BPM, but the energy on the dancefloor is by no means subdued. The magic is what happens between the beats. Expect to find new ways for your body to take the lead, moving and grooving you in novel ways. It'll be a great opportunity to try out some contact improvisation with other dancers, too.

Tickets are $25 and we offer subsidized and supporter options too. Link in bio.

See you at @_xchc very soon. taken in Exchange Christchurch - XCHC by @davidjuno_

Well well, what have we here? The slumbering Slow Motion is back out of hibernation.

We're low-key excited to bring you a recurring series of chill raves at XCHC over the coming months. The first one is on August 28th and sees the return of Laminar, along with Slow Motion co-creators Willy Styles and David Juno behind decks.

Downtempo, Slowtronica, Slow House, Ketapop, Chillhop, Trip Hop, Schneckno, Organica, Electronic Cumbia - these and more genres with a slower groove will be showcased by our array of Slow Motion DJs. With decelerated beats - we're keeping it below 115 BPM throughout the night - comes an appreciation for the finer details of the music and the opportunity to get fully immersed.

The magic lies in what happens between the beats, encouraging dancers to experiment with moving to the melody and rhythm. Slow doesn't mean low energy - quite the opposite, our DJs always bring a scintillatuing and novel kind of energy. The energy of the tortoise rather than the hare.

~ DOWNTEMPO SPECIAL THIS FRIDAY ~
🔊 Slow Motion Presents: Ouhana *live set [Berlin] 🔊
•
~ Feat. @davidjuno_ & @willystylesnz
~ Visuals by @the_wanderer_productions
•
Slow Motion is a club night dedicated to showcasing downtempo music; music that lives in the slower, deeper end of the electronic spectrum. Think groovy, hypnotic basslines, lush melodic layers, and a pace that pulls you in.
•
We are very excited to announce @ouhana.music will be joining us and bringing a LIVE downtempo set, followed by an extended DJ club set.
•
Ouhana (Berlin) is a ‘slow techno’ and downtempo producer who has been turning heads at underground parties and festivals across Europe. Raised around music from birth (his father was an opera singer), Ouhana crafts sets that move fluidly between pitched-down tech house, melodic techno, indie dance, and dark disco - all tied together by his signature: groovy, dark basslines dressed in complex, surprising arrangements. Expect something that hits your body and your brain.
•
Supporting on the night will be Slow Motion founders David Juno (GER) and Willy Styles (CHC), who’ll be setting the tone and taking us deep into the night.
•
THE ELIXER BAR ~ feat. @karmaceuticals.anz
The bar will be open and alcohol will be available up to midnight, afterwhich we will continue as an Elixir Bar - a fully non-alcoholic bar serving handcrafted mocktails designed to fuel your night with the signature Karmaceuticals tinctures straight from the UK (Perfect for those rolling in late from Electric Ave and want to keep the energy going)

Doors: 8:00pm | Music from: 8:30pm

"I'm a tiny little human, and I need your touch."

New set recording up, see link in bio.
I only played 2 sets in my 4 months overseas. This is the only one I recorded.

Four enchanted hours inside the Moroccan Lounge at a château in France, on a rainy Monday in late September 2025. Following on from @evakeiffenheim 's gorgeous journey inside the dovecote at midnight.

A journey of the heart and soul, with many twists and turns through genres and moods I've never touched before while DJing. Ecstatic peaks and dreamy valleys. Oceanic vastness and confined rhythms. Melting, decomposing, reassembling. Constantly arriving. Stillness in motion.

Take this key. It might open the door to your heart. 🗝

@auerworld Festival 2025 in Germany was a special one - it was the first time I played to a German festival crowd, and the first time I was at a festival with family. It meant the world to me to see my siblings, my 2 year old nephew, my brother-in-law, my step-dad, my mum and my dad coming together and dancing for my sunset set. 🥰

By the end of my set there was quite the crowd, and they absolutely loved the last two tracks by kiwi legends @sanoimusic , @beaconbloom and @ed.zuke . What a treat to be surrounded by such talented friends and musicians in Aotearoa and to be able to share their craft with the world.

I'm immensely grateful for the wide web of connections that brought me to this point. Friends who feel like family all over Aotearoa, especially my awesome community in Ōtautahi Christchurch - I miss you all. My family in Germany, who I haven't seen in two years and who put up with me staying with them again for the last two weeks, mostly with my head deep down in work connected to bringing an interactive art piece to Burning Man. The joy of shared meals, singing and dancing together with family at two small festivals. The patience and understanding from friends in different parts of Germany who know I'm in the country but who I don't have capacity to meet while I'm here this time - I'll be back sooner, not in another 2 years, I promise.

It's been quite the serendipitous, aligned journey so far since I left Aotearoa for winter, a lot of time just spent in flow, and I'm excited for where it takes me next. I know I'll be grateful to be home once I return to Ōtautahi in October. For now, I remain grateful to be on the road and following unexpected twists and turn after another. 🍃

Thanks for all the birthday messages that reached me in lots of different ways, everyone. I feel loved and seen. 💚

Dankeschön
