I’m honestly at a loss for words trying to put into writing what Awaken Summit was like. If you were there, live or online, I’d love for you to share your experience in the comments. There’s no way to fully explain it unless you were in the room to feel how powerful it was. The real estate industry is waking up. The energy, the conversations, the breakthroughs… it was bigger than an event. It was a shift. Thank you to every single person who showed up. The speakers who poured into us. The band who set the atmosphere. The production team who made it seamless. The volunteers who served all day. And everyone who took the time to be in the room or tune in virtually. I was 19, working at apartments as a leasing agent, still just a kid really, when my coworkers invited me out to Old Town Scottsdale. I wasn’t 21, so one of them handed me her ID and I was terrified. Standing in line at a place called Next… with my head down, heart racing, I looked up and saw David. He was working there while finishing school at ASU. I handed him the ID, he knew immediately it wasn’t me, and we both just laughed. I walked out embarrassed, and then like a movie he chased our car down. We rolled the window down and he gave me his number. And somehow, that 19-year-old girl had no idea she was meeting the man she’d build a life with. Fast forward to today, he’s still my Valentine. ❤️ The best husband, the greatest father to our boys, a man who loves Jesus and leads our family so well. I’m forever grateful God wrote our story. 💕 by @davidmgillette

Trying to win wife of the year over here 🤣. Let’s go Broncos. We surprised David with playoff tickets to his favorite team for his birthday and he was SO excited 🥹🙌🥰. He spent most of his childhood living in Boulder and has always been a Broncos fan, so getting to see them in person made it extra special. I recently put an anonymous Ask Me Anything link in my stories, and I thought I knew exactly what you guys would ask. How have you survived almost 20 years in real estate? How did you build your personal brand? How do you get thousands of views on YouTube? But one question kept coming up in different ways: How do you keep a healthy marriage while being a Realtor? And I get why. This career can consume you if you let it. You can be sitting next to your spouse while your mind is somewhere else. Thinking about the client who’s upset, the inspection tomorrow, the deal falling apart. Your phone rings during dinner. There’s always one more text to answer. Sometimes the people we love most get what’s left of us after we’ve given everyone else our best all day. I’m incredibly grateful for @davidmgillette He’s been supportive through every season of this career, and keeping God first has always been the foundation of our marriage. But we’ve also learned a LOT over almost 20 years of navigating marriage, kids, and a career that never really turns off. So maybe I need to bring David into this conversation. Spend the day on the lake with us ☀️🌵🚤 Saguaro Lake is only about 45 minutes from Queen Creek and one of our favorite places to escape for the day. You can rent a boat, kayak, paddleboard, or Jet Ski, or just hang out at one of the beach areas if you don’t want to be on the water. We grabbed lunch at the lakeside restaurant, which recently reopened, and the views were so good. If you’re looking for a lake day near Phoenix or things to do near Queen Creek, Saguaro Lake is an easy day trip ❤️ taken in Saguaro Lake by @davidmgillette

After 8 years, Purpose Movement holds the same sentiment. This organization is not about us, but about them. The incredible boys and girls that we serve, the volunteers that invest their time and energy into interacting with the kids and of course our donors. A few days ago, I honestly wasn’t sure how we were going to pull this off. Running a nonprofit isn’t easy. We had hundreds of kids living in foster care group homes signed up to shop for brand new shoes, but we didn’t have enough volunteers. Every child receives $100, 30 minutes to shop, and a volunteer to shop alongside them. This year we said yes to more kids than ever before because we couldn’t bring ourselves to tell them no. On the drive to the store, I kept thinking about the kids who were on their way. None of them chose the circumstances that brought them into foster care. For some, this would be the first brand new pair of shoes they’ve ever owned. Then our community showed up. Volunteers rearranged their schedules. People donated. People prayed. Somehow, everything came together. At the end of the event, I asked a few of the kids what their favorite part of the day was. I expected them to say the shoes. They didn’t. They said their volunteer. The person who slowed down long enough to walk beside them, ask them what they liked, celebrate their choices, and give them something every child deserves: undivided attention. It reminded me that what children often remember most isn’t what they received. It’s how someone made them feel. If this story resonates with you, we’d love for you to be part of a future event. Whether you volunteer, donate, or simply share what we’re doing, you’re helping us say yes to more kids who need to know they haven’t been forgotten. This has become one of our favorite annual traditions: one business conference, just the two of us. We spend the day getting inspired, challenged, and surrounded by people who refuse to settle for an average life. Then we end each day with date nights talking through ideas, goals, and what’s next. One thing that really stuck with me: your goals aren’t just about you. How many more people could you help if you actually achieved them? Huge thank you to @neelhome for taking the risk to create @forward.usa Such a great event. Biggest takeaway: stop thinking and start executing. If you’re married, book a conference together. The views from Walnut Canyon in Flagstaff are incredible, but it was impossible not to notice the Pocket Fire burning in the distance. The Arizona wildfire remains 0% contained, with more than 850 firefighters working around the clock. APS has also shut off power to more than 8,000 homes to help reduce the risk of additional wildfires. 🙏🏻 taken in Walnut Canyon National Monument by @davidmgillette
