🚨 Our Marriage Is Under Attack — Where Do You Stand? 🚨

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments that could overturn Obergefell v. Hodges—the very ruling that made our marriage legal. To my true allies—my family, both blood and chosen—thank you for standing with us. If you voted for that man, didn’t vote, or chose a 3rd party, you helped create the administration and Court making this possible. If you claim to be Christian but stay silent, you’re a hypocrite. If you say you love Shawn and me (or any LGBTQIA+ people) but won’t fight for our rights, go pound sand. This is a direct attack on equal rights and the LGBTQIA+ community and is right out of the Project 2025 that “doesn’t exist”!Here’s a brief clip of our love—real, valid, and no different from any other couple’s.

Today is a mixed bag. Aging both sucks but also beats the alternative. So many people don’t get the privileges that I have had in my life. I am trying to lead into today with gratitude and grace. It’s not always easy - especially in today’s world. Thank you to all of those who have come through my life these past 50+ years. You have all left a little piece of yourselves in my heart (for better or for worse)! Now - off I go to see @midnight and @todrick in NYC! Today is a day that carries a lot of heavy weight for our country—a day of grief for the tragic losses at the World Trade Center, and my heart will always go out to those directly affected. We honor and celebrate those memories.
For me, September 11th also marks a very different kind of personal milestone. Today is 13 years since my life-changing gastric sleeve surgery.
My journey actually started a year prior with a gastric band, which ended up slipping and embedding itself in my stomach lining. I could have died from it. I spent 8 days in the hospital (several of those in the CCU) and 6 weeks out of work recovering with a belly full of staples. A year later, with a new surgeon, I made the choice to try again.
When I started this path, I was at 428 lbs. Today, I am sitting at 208 lbs.
Am I where I ultimately want to be? No—I’m still aiming for 175 lbs, and to be completely honest, staying motivated right now is a massive struggle. The “food noise” in my brain is constant, and it gets exhausting. That said, I am proud that I’ve been able to keep most of the weight off, even if I get frustrated with how hard the daily battle is.
To anyone who has ever said surgery is “the easy way out”—trust me when I tell you, it is not easy. It comes with permanent side effects (like hypoglycemia, gastroparesis, and loose skin), and it’s an everyday mental and physical challenge. I don’t love how my body looks right now, in or out of clothes, and I really need to find the spark to get back into exercising.
Even with all the bumps, the hard days, and the quiet struggles, I am still glad I did it. I just wish my brain would give me a break from the food noise sometimes!
I’ve shared a few photos from across the years—the good, the hard, and everything in between. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me, checked in on me, and lifted me up over the past 13 years (and beyond). It has been one hell of a learning experience.

Opening Night of The Bodyguard at The Broadway Theatre of Pitman! Come for you favorite Whitney tune but stay for the phenomenal performances, the glitz, the suspense, heartbreak, and the love! Well tonight is our final dress rehearsal for The Bodyguard The Musical. You don’t want to miss some powerhouse performances. For those who grew up listening to Whitney in the 80s and 90s - this show is pure nostalgia and joy. I’m extremely proud and lucky to be a part of this amazing team with Dominic, Chris, Scott, and Devon. The cast and crew are also crushing it! Remembering Rosemarie

Seven years ago today, pancreatic cancer stole my mom, Rosemarie Mooney, from us. The end of August is a stretch of the year I have learned to simply dread.
My mom wasn’t perfect—but who in this life is? She had a heart of gold, paired with a fiery Italian/Irish temper and zero patience for bullshit. I sometimes feel like a piece of that spirit entered my body when she passed, because my own patience is much shorter now than it used to be (though maybe that’s just aging, too!).

I miss hearing her voice, her nervous laugh, her spice, her cooking, and just having my biggest cheerleader and supporter right by my side (second only to my husband). There are so many things I wish she could have seen, and not a day goes by that she isn’t heavy on my heart and in my thoughts.

We still have a long way to go. There needs to be a better way of detecting pancreatic cancer in the early stages; if it had been found sooner, she might still be here with us today. We desperately need more research and a cure so other families don’t have to endure this heartbreak.

Mom—today and the next few days are going to be rough. I know you are with me in spirit, but some days I just want a real hug from you, even if you weren’t always the biggest fan of hugs yourself. I love and miss you with all of my heart.

Be kind to me this week, universe. I’ll gladly take a hug from anyone who wants to give me one today. Please, appreciate the ones close to you and tell them every single day that you love them. by @davidmichael103
