Australian bustard on the Georgina river floodplain. I have not been to Channel country before but was conscious that I was seeing it very green and very lovely. I have returned from my Mount Isa and western Queensland Channel Country trip. I posted a few stories while on the road but am now working through my material. This will keep me busy for weeks, which is a great problem to have.

To start things, here is a highlights package from day 2, Mount Isa to Boulia.

Wedgie at sunrise
Kalkadoon grasswren (f)
Juvenile wedgies (I’d never had a good look at a wedgie prior to this trip)
Painted honeyeater (m) – a species that wasn’t even on my radar by I sniffed out a large group in grey mistletoe
