All roads lead to Brooklyn’s @kissakissa.us on Friday 4/17 from 7pm, when I’ll be selecting a night dedicated to the giants of Jamaican jazz 🇯🇲 🎷🎺 🎹 🥁. The foundational sounds of reggae flow from a crop of young jazz Jamaicans, who emerged during the 1950’s and 60’s. Some would leave the island before the Ska revolution began, while others became the soul of the great studio house bands that birthed reggae music. The famed Jazz collection housed at Kissa Kissa by owner Danny, contains some of the great recordings by Joe Harriott and Dizzy Reece. I’ll be bringing the heat from the likes of Tommy McCook, Don Drummond, Count Ossie, Ernest Ranglin and more, to create a special celebration of Jamaica’s world class jazz talent. Please swing by for drink and some amazing music Friday 4/17 from 7pm. #jazzjamaica @warner.bob @amlowry123 @maharishihifi @marianaedyn @insta_twice @cartervanpelt @_vaiina @rankinsubwaydj @busygillespie @brooklynjazzcollector @sir_hats @micallefjasswaxx @what_can_brown @jonnygofigure @misshapselam @mikecrash @brownmishka @graceofspades @don_three_corner @ronald.koeman @duppyconquerrah @patrickforge @salilgulati @asher_g_the_rocksteady_daddy @ayannaheaven @humanheadnyc @ianphilip @exotic_woodwork @_cocoloves_ @mlynch680 @paperstaxrecords @patterns_in_time @jake_the_tailor @peckings #jazzjamaica @skawop @hackneydubclub @wakethetownradio @thelotradio @seekingathreadb @devonojas @asaad_kingjammin @dubvendorrecords @tommyfareast @rudieshi_fi @as_the_table_turns @sharlenesbar @campbell7708 @serenityrecs @djbennyben @facerecordsnyc @gabby_eoc @gaffa_blue @lionvibes_shop @luckycatzoe @caribsoul @waybackwhen88 @chanceswithwolves @channelonesoundsystem @trenchtowntuesday @1vinylmeltdown @officialdaddylonglegs #dizzyreece #@anhelin @#reggae @the_reggae_archive @bencrookbencrook @shadinyc @marisa_bip @roach_coach_ @misshuss by @davidphillips72

As we continue to say goodbye to our musical legends in the flesh, it’s important to remember that through the records they made, they live forever 👑. One of reggae’s greatest recordings was released 50 years ago this year. King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown is a crowning achievement in the careers of two such reggae legends; Augustus Pablo and King Tubby. In honor of this musical milestone, I’ll be playing a special tribute session at @bierwax Sunday Feb 22nd 4-7pm. Every dub from the LP, paired with its original vocal/instrumental, plus as many next versions as I can fit in my record box. Strictly vinyl of course! Swipe to see some of the sides getting played. Plenty of JA and UK pressings, including my well worn Yard copy of the LP, bought sometime in the late 1980’s, when my obsession for this incredible music began. Swing by Sunday Feb 22nd at Bierwax and give thanks! 🙏🏽 #bradsrecordden #bronx @kingtubbyofficial @officialaugustuspablo ##kingtubbymeetsrockersuptown @djbennyben @maharishihifi @stevericedj_downbeat_melody @insta_twice @ben_lion_vibes @asher_g_the_rocksteady_daddy @asaad_kingjammin @jamaica_underground_records @brownmishka @maxglazer @seekingathread @micallefjasswaxx @rankinsubwaydj @_vaiina @trenchtowntuesday @anhelin @marianaedyn @mikecrash @mlynch680 @andrebeebs @citizensenior1 @escalfone @devonojas @michaelforonda @ianphilip @cartervanpelt @jonnygofigure @deadlydragonsound @patterns_in_time @etsunobukun @hoolyselektah @olegpronine @west.loop.music @jah_screechy @highwatersoundnyc @warner.bob @joe.arcidiacono_dp @dumptruck_pdx @rhyginsoundsystem @duborganiserhifi @dubvendorrecords @dub_teacher @askja_atlantic @peckings @ayannaheaven @tommyfareast @gabby_eoc @jandiscrecords @bullwackiebarnes @paperstaxrecords @wakethetownradio @sohoradio @thelotradio @ramjamlondon @grim_chip by @davidphillips72

No matter how bleak this year may get, remember that you're still spinning on planet earth alongside Sonny Rollins 🎷🌎. Sonny is literally the last of the great jazz pioneers, from the musics’ golden age, left here with us 👑. He'll be 95 years old this year which means every day is our blessing. Whether you blow dust off a disk, or stream through the ether, put some Sonny Rollins on your speakers sometime soon and extend a good feeling Sonny's way 🎷🌞🎷. #sonnyrollins #jazz #jazzvinyl #vinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #jazzlegend #riversiderecords #bluenote #cratedigging #jazzrecords @jazzdispensary @jazz_record_center @what_can_brown @jazzsaraswati @natbirchallmusic @seekingathread @fareastrecords @asher_g_the_rocksteady_daddy @jamaica_underground_records @noblerecords pressurebeatsound @rootstonic_records @luckycatzoe by @davidphillips72
