We’re thrilled to announce the appointment of @davidpower_ as The Jette Parker Ballet Associate, a new role that will see David work alongside our Artistic, Development and Marketing Teams.

David joined Queensland Ballet in 2015 and has been a beloved member of the company both on and off the stage. 🎭

After several years managing a back injury, in 2023 David underwent life changing surgery and has since made the difficult decision to retire from professional dancing.

“There is never a right time for a dancer to step away from their dream but I feel so supported and empowered to take this opportunity. Ballet has given me a lifetime of memories and connections that I will cherish forever. I cannot thank my colleagues, family and coaches enough for allowing me to be part of a community that has shaped the person I am today.

This position offers me a transition that feels elegant and exciting and I am thrilled to continue to lead and advocate for this art form and its wonderful artists. Will always be a dancin’ man.”

We are thrilled that David remains with the Queensland Ballet family in this newly created role as an alumni of the Jette Parker Young Artists Program and we look forward to seeing him grow within the QB team in 2025.

Super proud of this collaboration and super honored to be a Bloch Professional. My Bloch ballet shoes have seen me through a pretty crazy ride and I hope they will keep doing so! Weird timing for me right now but super excited to be back in those shoes soon xxx

Ex-ballerinas at the opening night of Cats:
✔️ Spotting every turn
✔️ Admiring every line
✔️ Quietly missing the stage

And we somehow still pose in fifth position (kinda) 🩰🐾

@qldballet presents Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo & Juliet at @atqpac - a triumphant achievement for all involved. Bringing a production of this scale to life requires an army of dedicated, passionate, and resilient artists and creatives, both on and off stage. I’m incredibly grateful to share this moment with my remarkable colleagues. Being back on stage has never felt more special. If you have the chance, don’t miss this extraordinary ballet. 🌹❤️‍🔥 taken in QPAC by @davidpower_
