Benny's Pod Racer

I built one of these engines when I was playing with the big turbine pieces. They're always interesting to experiment with. I could think how to include it in a spaceship, so I built my first pod racer. I've never seen the film with pod racing in it, so I hope that this is roughly right!

The Pusher

The Pusher was a space tug, used to nudge giant space freighters onto the quays at orbital docks. Its massive pneumatic fenders could gently move mega-tonnes of spacecraft, in zero-g, without causing any damage.

I bought the windscreens from @thebrickjunction on bricklink: nice clean pieces and fast delivery, which was perfect. I've wanted to play with these windscreens for years and have already built a second spacecraft with them!

Cargo Pod - Version 2

Creating these cargo pods has been great fun! This version is a lot simpler than the first one. Although the version in the photo is all one colour, it can also be made with stripes.

I'm just finishing a spaceship that can carry these cargo pods. They're a pain to integrate, as they're 11 plates wide but I've succeeded. I also need to make a forklift type vehicle to carry them - stay tuned!

Y Spaceship

"Why spaceships?", is a question that I'm often asked and the answer is because they're fun and there's a lot of creative freedom.

Many of my ships are just abstract sculptures with an engine stuck on the back and a poor pilot squeezed inside! There's also the technical challenge of fitting in other features, such as the fold-down landing feet on this craft. I enjoy experimenting with shapes and patterns and colour and spaceships are an ideal medium.

Have fun and play well!

Cargo Pod

This little cargo pod took me quite a while to puzzle out how to build, especially with a chequered pattern like this. It's two identical modules that are interlinked and can't come apart, yet they have no connection to each other via Lego studs.

Spoiler: the third and fourth photos show how the cargo pod is made, so don't swipe there if you'd like to try to solve the puzzle for yourself!

A new rocket has landed on the Moon and amazed the Classic Space people with its scale and colourful exterior. If only they could find the crew...

The Swallow

This aircraft, with its distinctive split tail, was used to travel across the vast coconut plantations of the planet Camelot. The craft was a single-seater, with no room for cargo. Obviously the aeroplane couldn't carry coconuts, as it had no means to grip them and there was also the question of thrust to weight ratios.

Sunburst

A sister ship to the legendary Green Flash, the Sunburst had slightly lengthened prongs. This was done purely for aesthetic reasons and not to acquire any increase in performance.
