Been wanting an Australian tattoo for a while to commemorate my citizenship, and given how much the humble, cheap, white, Anko coffee grinder means to so many people, it was the obvious choice.

Thanks to @jonpindercomedy for now the 3rd tat he's done for me but the first we've chatted about Australian wee...I mean coffee culture while it's happening.

See how everyone gets along when a creepy, orange, geriatric patient in adult nappies isn't running the show.

Melbourne 10k done! Cannot tell you how nice it was doing that this year after two years in a row of doing the full marathon. 5k in realising you're halfway there rather than still having 37k to go was the best feeling. Back to bed for a bit then beers now 🍺

Running nerd stuff:

Got 46 dead by my watch so happy enough with that as was aiming for 45-50 mins. Basically did no running at all March to June this year so was very heavy legged and slower than usual at the start of the training plan. In the past I've always found plans online or something but this time I thought I'd give the automatic Garmin coach thing that comes with the watch a go to see if it was any good.

Entered the race and target time in the app and it comes up with an adaptive plan for you and tells you exactly what pace to be doing and for how long every run you're out including ones with sprints or longer tempo stuff. Beeps in your ear and tells you you're going too fast or slow and stuff. It'll edit things on the fly if you've had a bad night's sleep or something too so thought if it worked well then that'd be the way to go in future too, especially given how easy it all is to set up and follow.

Last pic is my weekly mileage (or kilometreage) for the whole plan for anyone who's interested. It basically achieved me getting almost my exact target pace, which given how slow and busy it was at the start of the race I was impressed with, as I'd doubted it at points during training when I felt like even slower paces were a lot of effort. It got my 'easy' pace down as well though by almost 30 seconds per km so I would say a successful experiment and could definitely recommend it if you have a Garmin watch for a 10k anyway. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @davidxcallan
