We were taking pictures of houses. This lady in her 90s came out, asked what we were doing. We told her.

She said, ‘Forget the house. I’ll be in your film. Look at me when I was 30!’

She held out her portrait.

My new commercial for FedEx. Now on a screen near you. What a trip! It was as fun to make as it looks. (Maybe more, if you saw behind the scenes.)

Eternal gratitude to a client who’d reply to things like ‘I want to send our lead actor down a chute of balloons’ with an enthusiastic ‘let’s do it!’

And a super creative, collaborative, all-around-great group at RedwoodBBDO who were the best bunch to go on this weird and wonderful journey with.

As for the crew? What a lucky son-of-a-gun I was to work with so much talent. What’s that old saying, surround yourself with people far more talented than you? Check.

Like… Nico Poulsson and his magic touch with light. Ruta Kiskyte on production design, who built us a desert in Lithuania (what!?) Freefolk with their VFX sorcery but also with all their clever tips on how to keep things in-camera instead. Jack Singer and his killer cut. Greta, oh Greta, who made the impossible happen. Father and their wonderful music and sound. My old pal Drew O’Neill who is just always ace.

And… actually, here’s everyone—
