My little ( BIG) Brother,

Happy Anniversary of life. What a blessing you are. The wisest young man I know. Strong in every sense of the word yet gentle. You have the purest heart and a special way of making those around you feel so seen. You show up. You’re incredibly giving and selfless. I’m constantly in awe of the man you’ve become and I’m endlessly grateful to God that I get to be apart of your life. I pray this next season is the best one yet. No one I know deserves it more than you.

There’s not many words I can use to describe what season after season of great loss does to a soul.

What I can say that it’s done for me is….

It has changed me.
For the better.

It’s given me the confidence to live with wonder again. To dream bigger. To Love loudly again. To do the shoot. To take the trip. To use the PTO. To say yes to the hike. To see the show. To sang the song. To post my work. To say ” I love you “ even more than I already do. Why ?

Because Something my great grandmother use to say……. “ This life is short and tomorrow ain’t promised”.

And the more seasoned I become that little statement reveals itself to be true.

We always think we have time but from what I’ve gathered….. the “ One day “ or “ Next year “ trip may NEVER come. So, when the opportunity presents itself TAKE IT.

MAKE the time for the people and things that matter to you most. The things and the people that bring you joy and sets your soul on fire.

“Great loss has taught me that I’d rather do what I can, while I can, with who I can right now . Rather than wishing I would’ve done, what I could’ve done when I had the chance to do it. “

7 years.

God, what a gift it is to not only dream a dream but have faith that you can make it come true.

And I did just that.

Nothing could’ve prepared me for the life I’d live here. The people I’d meet. The relationships I’d cultivate, sustain and those that would become fond memories.

The places I’d visit. The hobbies that would become lifelines in certain seasons. The unveiling of more of…..me. And more of Jesus.

Colorado what a gift you have been to me. A blessing that has continued to bless me. A love like no other I’ve ever experienced. What was once a single dream & destination….has now expanded. taken in Colorado, USA by @davontasparkman

Some of the most memorable words I’ve ever heard spoken to me.

and they were among the FIRST words you said to me on my first visit to your home. What a gift you were to my life. Always Kind, warm and inviting. Wherever you were I was welcomed & safe. The conversations we’ve had. The laughs we’ve shared. The smiles. The dinners. The pots of coffee to make sure I can have some on the road for the hour drive back home. Always felt safe, seen , loved and wanted around you. So I made sure it was apart of my routine for just about every visit home over the Last 7 years. I can’t quite believe that the next visit will be different. I’ll miss your story telling , your jokes & even the back porch cigarette talks. I love you papa joel. Thank you for being one of the kindest men I’ve ever met & treating me like apart the family from day one. So thankful that I let you know one of the last times I was home just how much those first words meant to me ♥️ by @davontasparkman
