Wasssssssuppppppppp I haven’t been able to post all of my fosters lately, and since I just brought little Papillon back to the shelter today, I feel like it’s time! My Insta has mostly become a space for me to document and celebrate my kittens, and I wanna continue with those vibez when the entire world seems to be set alight and chaotic. It’s important to celebrate what is good when ya can.

I had my Hello Kitty babies, who were so crusty and sweet and resilient when we realized that my kitchen floor was getting warm with a hot water leak! It was chaos! But, they thrived in my bedroom without caca-ing all over the carpet, and it all worked out.

Then, I had my three vulnerable singletons: two were about the same age, so they got to fully grow up together, and I added another singleton who was 2 weeks younger than the other two. They all were pretty sick with various ailments, but they got better! When it was time for the older two to get adopted, I stopped by the shelter to pick up two more so that little Papillon wasn’t alone. It’s super cute because cats are such erratic, temperamental creatures, but kittens are always instantly friends. It’s like running a lil daycare with babies that immediately like each other and play together. Older animals are more complicated lol. Oh! And, I almost had to evacuate with these kittens because of a local battery fire. Luckily, it all worked out, and I’m grateful to know and love all of these bbs 🥰

It’s been 3 months since I lost my Bun Boy, my Rabby, my Watson. I rescued him from the shelter 9 years ago this week, and I am eternally grateful that he was my little pal for nearly a decade. I still catch myself setting aside fruits, veggies, and herbs to share with my boy, and…I still find his little poops and hay around my apartment.

I’d like to think that he’s hopping and binkying with joy, and that my dad is sneaking him all the extra carrots that his lil heart desires 🥕 (I used to get mad at my dad for giving him too many carrots, but now it’s ok 😭)

My Miracle Studio Ghibli Babies!
These babies were extra special because I literally saved them right as the shelter closed that day. Unfortunately, someone brought in these two week old nuggets right before closing, and if they can’t find neonatal fosters before closing that day, they euthanize them. That’s just one facet of the brutal reality of the overpopulation crisis. But, they were such sweet, silly babies! Lots of sleepless nights in the beginning, balancing bottle feedings and litter box training (and failing lol) and health issues and hectic work schedules, but it all worked out, and it brings me so much joy that I was able to save them 💖

Ponyo, Haku, Totoro, Jiji, and Soot Sprite have all been adopted! (And, Ponyo & Haku, the two calicos, were adopted together literally within one hour of being made available) by @dawnchantel

Does anyone remember this girl? I’d like to think I’ve grown quite a bit since those days of angsty teenage alcoholism and snorting drugs off of my biology textbook. I decided to become…an intellectual 📚

I’ve now fostered 22 kittens in my father’s honor.
It’s pretty amazing what you can do when you feel restless and set ablaze. I’m glad it’s something sweet.

Oh, what to do when the universe pushes you to the brink of insanity, hmmmm??

Well, for me…I foster a fuck ton of kittens. These babies were so much fun, and I’ll miss every single one of them, always and forever 💖 Please adopt & spay/neuter your pets. The animal overpopulation crisis is for real, and it’s bc there aren’t enough people who adopt & spay/neuter. These babies were lucky, but there are millions annually who aren’t so lucky to find homes.

Rick, Morty, Homelander, Starlight, and Queen Maeve have all been adopted (Rick & Morty were even adopted together 🥰) And…I adopted little Nova 💖 by @dawnchantel

This is as good as it gets for me: saving kittens 🐱
I started fostering again, and I’ve definitely been exercising my free will this time around, officially cementing me as a crazy (perhaps feral & deranged?) cat lady! After I adopted my foster kitten Pan last year, I wasn’t sure if I had the room or ability to foster again. Pan is a crazy boy, and even though he continues to try to befriend my other animals, they aren’t his biggest fans, and he’s a lot of work lol. Then, I saw that the shelter posted these one week old orangey boys…and I rushed over to the shelter to pick them up, unsure of how I was going to do it all when they got old enough to move around. But, I improvised and sacrificed sleep and hallucinated during the weeks of bottle baby sleep deprivation, and they thrived. And then…the shelter texted me about two little bbs who needed to be out of the shelter within the hour. I rushed over after work, and then…I had 5 foster kittens! It was pure, unadulterated chaos, but the best kind; it all worked out, and they were all the best of friends, and I am grateful that I got to encounter their little souls before they found their forever homes. Towards the end of their time with me…I had 9 foster bbs because I am insane!

I haven’t really been on my phone today, but I wanted to make sure to post for Daphne’s 13th birthday!

What an honor it has been to grow old with my little puppy dawg. She really is the light of my life & the best pal I could have asked for. Today, she galloped around in the field, ate lots of grass in the sunshine, pulled me down the hill during our hike, and ate her old lady vitamins and her treats (including her dental bone). Three whole months with this crazy lil man. I’m smitten. I’ve finally cleared out my spare bedroom, and it’s going to have a “Pink Pony Club” theme for this boy. Now accepting all vintage unicorn, rainbow, and Care Bear donations! 🌈 🦄 🌈

Pan is a lot more insane than I thought he’d be, so I’ve been very busy with all of my creatures, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is the life my dad always wanted for me: to be immersed in my own space, living life on my own terms, completely free of toxic bitches. I recently realized that I must be healed and immune to gaslighting/manipulation because I quickly put a toxic person in their place, and I didn’t even flinch 💖

On Wednesday, I took Wolfie, Lyra, and Pan back to the shelter because they officially grew big enough to get fixed and find their forever families. I was devastated. The night before, I was trying to rationalize and painfully wrestled with the idea of adopting all three of these kittens. I became more hopelessly and irrevocably attached than ever, and I think it’s because these were the youngest kittens that I had the opportunity to foster. When I first brought them home, they were tiny, wobbly, 3.5 week old bbs with eye infections and dirty little faces (common for kittens born in the streets), and they ended up having worms (also common 🤢). Watching them learn and grow and trust has been so rewarding for me, and I just didn’t want to say goodbye. I almost didn’t let them go.

I know that’s what’s best for them and my other creatures, but, I will someday have a large enough space where I can save them all & cuddle with them all forever. My friend’s daughter has already agreed to work at my future rescue so that we can help to end the homeless cat crisis. That’s the dream, anyway.

But…I did end up adopting one….surprise!
Am I crazy? Fuck yeah I am. But, I am traumatized from watching my dad die, so I think I’m doing ok, all things considered.
