2026 OCR season is done!

Reflecting on 2026 looking through pictures, one thing is clear…. We’ve had a lot of fun!!

There has been some serious racing, but also alot of time out on course @outforajolley just enjoying the trails and the obstacles with friends. Very possibly my most favourite year so far!

Thank you to everyone that has joined in on the fun this year, there are alot of you to mention, so just in case I miss anyone, I won’t list everyone out…. You know who you are! ❤️❤️

SPARTAN HVAR SPRINT & SUPER 2026

Sunday was Para Day, running with Visually Impaired athletes Dawn and Hans for the Sprint and Super races

With long swims, twisting climbs, and technical rocky sections the pace was never meant to be quick, just sure and steady, with me recording their missions

Congratulations to them both for their courage in conquering events that most sighted people would never consider

Such experiences are more than for the medals, it is for the privilege to recognise and support bravery in venturing on a journey of unseen challenges

Be Grateful for what you have, as there are many who may not ever know what that is like

Two incredible athletes, one unforgettable moment. A reminder of the courage, determination and heart that define the Spartan spirit. ❤️

Hans Löfdahl, known as The Blind Viking, a PARA OCR athlete from Sweden 🇸🇪, and Dawn Jolleys, a visually impaired OCR athlete from the UK 🇬🇧, took on the Spartan Super in Hvar and crossed the finish line together.

Your journey, your strength and this moment will stay with us long after the finish line. Thank you for showing us what it truly means to be a Spartan. ❤️ by @dawnjolleys

Spartan Ultra Pippingford ☑️

🥇 VI British Ultra Champion
🥇 Spartan AG 50-54

I’ve heard a lot of ‘I only won because no one else was in my category’

‘I only got a medal because no one else in my AG was racing’

These words from other people not about me… just to add… although yes, I was the only visually impaired racer, I was the only 50-54 year old woman doing the Ultra (including none competitive people)

And that’s the thing everyone needs to remember! You are out there doing extraordinary things, things that are fucking hard, things that other people are not wanting to attempt.

So IF you are the only one, who is brave enough, strong enough, stupid enough to do what you do… embrace it! Take that medal, be proud of that trophy… because you’ve bloody well earnt it! #

Happiest of birthdays the very much above average friend! Hope your day is filled with much laughter and gluten free cake 😘😘 by @dawnjolleys

This one was the one that really mattered to me! It’s no secret I love a Spartan race. I feel confident and comfortable and going into this race I really wanted to give it all I could.

As guide I had the incredible @attiva_yoga who I knew would support me in the best way on course. She races smart and has huge experience in race preparation.

We walked part of the course on Friday and @jakejolleys ran other parts to give us an insight in to the obstacles and the terrain.

We sat Friday night and talked about our strategy, from where we would push, to where we might have to walk, fuelling, hydration, obstacles…. We had a plan!

Saturday we executed that plan perfectly. We stuck to it, we did exactly what we set out to do and more. We headed off on a strong start from the off, knowing if I could get a good lead on the first section, my obstacles were strong and I could settle into a steady pace.

Coming out from the swim, I could see other people who were not in my category and Tamar decided we were now racing everyone 😂😂

We managed to overtake one person on the chain carry and one more on a horrible technical section - total trust in Tamar with a little hope and a prayer that I wouldn’t trip!

Only one failure on course from the sneaky 3 bat Twister meant a quick penalty loop.

Next into the bucket carry we saw another competitor…. Time to try and catch on the ski slope. A big push meant we closed the gap. Hit the 3 lights on the laser pistols, hit the spear throw, carefully navigated the Z walls and it was time to be really brave on a down hill run, where I managed to overtake another person.

7 obstacles from home and only 1 I could fail - multi rig - two ropes on the end before the bell… nailed it 🥳🥳

Flippy flip on the A Frame and fire jump to victory as PO5 Champion, 2nd Female overall and 2nd GB athlete over the line behind the super fast @jamieganeadaptiveathlete

I wanted sub 2 hours and came in at 1:49 - 1 penalty and a whole lot of smiles!

Thank you to @spartanfinland And @cityoflahti for a memorable experience.

Make it spectacular!

We are given one chance at this thing called life and we get one body to do it with.

I have so many mixed emotions when I look at these pictures… we are conditioned to think fitness and bodies should look a certain way, and while mine has for a number of years, these last couple of years I would be lying it if I was comfortable in the skin I’m in.

Perimenopause has hit me harder than I would have hoped, I eat balanced, I exercise well, but when I look in the mirror the rolls are real 😬

BUT then when I scratch beyond the surface of the pictures and the image I once remember… I see a strong healthy 51 year old women doing things lots of younger people can’t.
