Four years ago today, my world felt like it had ended. Four years ago today, my Dad passed from this world into the next.

The greatest gift he ever gave me was his presence. I never had to search for words. He knew. I didn’t have to utter a single syllable for him to understand me. That kind of love is rare. I know that now in a way I wish I didn’t.

Losing him has been the most humbling education of my life. I have learned what a father truly means, not as a title, but as a force. I have felt the anguish of reaching for a hug that can no longer reach back. I have known the quiet devastation of living in a world you can no longer share with the person who made it feel safe.

And so I carry him differently now. I try to love the way he loved, laugh the way he laughed, and every single day, I try to live in a way that would make him proud, even if he can no longer see it with his own eyes. Yet, I choose to believe he sees it anyway.

I would give anything for one more dad hug. Enjoy heaven, Daddy. Today and every day. 🤍 by @dawson.iasillo
