#pridemonth is also #indigenoushistorymonth Our collective liberation is woven together. If your Pride isn’t intersectional, it ain’t 💩

If your pride isn’t actively anti-racist, pro Palestine, Congo, Sudan, or any other oppressed people, it ain’t 💩

If your pride receives sponsorship from corporate entities that contribute to land theft and other harm to marginalized people, it ain’t 💩

If your Pride is actively ignoring Black and Two Spirit voices and not providing a platform to be heard, it ain’t 💩

If your pride isn’t a PROTEST for liberation for ALL… IT AINT 💩 by @daxonstone

Reminder: there is an ongoing national crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+), rooted in systemic racism, colonial violence, and socio-economic inequities. I wear my moose hide pin is a symbol of my personal commitment to ending violence against women and children and all those along the gender continuum.

Free Congo. Free Sudan. Free Palestine. Landback everywhere!

Dear Simba - You were always there for me through thick and thin. When the world abandoned me and left me isolated, you were always by my side no matter what. Losing you is like losing a part of myself, but I’ll always be grateful for the beautiful 17 years we spent together. You were not just a pet. You were a true companion and my bestest friend. I will miss your soft fur, your playful and wild spirit, but most of all your unconditional love. Thank you for the joy, emotional support and companionship you brought me. I’m so lucky to have been able to be with you for it all. Learning to do it without you will take the rest of my life. Rest peacefully, my beautiful precious boy.

In loving memory of Simba - Nov 15, 2007 - Nov 5, 2024

Simba was born in 2007 when some friends of mine had an accidental litter of kittens. My roommates adopted two of them and decided after a few short weeks that one of the cats was “too wild” for them and asked me if I wanted him before surrendering him.

I never planned on owning a cat and had just started dog training at that time aspiring to own a dog. But, I decided to give him a chance and try to work with him. I wrapped him up in a blanket and was the first person ever able to calm him. He fell right asleep in my lap.

I renamed him Simba and the rest is history.

Simba was a wild spirit, full of boundless energy and loved to play. He was also incredibly smart and learned to be the most calm, gentle and well behaved cat I have ever met.

Simba loved the grass, chicken and sunbathing the most. He also loved drinking from a fountain and scraping the ground first to get the freshest water. He had a love/hate relationship with cuddles but still wanted to be loved so he would accept them on occasion, especially from me.

He was my shadow for almost 17 years to the day. Seeing me through so many of life’s changes. Always there for me. Comforting me. Saving my life more times than I can remember. Simba was my guardian angel.

He lived a full, happy and healthy life before starting to slow down last year. His condition unfortunately declined rapidly last week. He let us know that it was time for him to rest.

We surrounded him with love, gave him all the snuggles and snackos that he could ever ask for. Then I wrapped him in the same blanket that I did when I met him and held him in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge.

You will be forever missed and never forgotten. Rest well, sweet Simba.

Your favorite chair is empty now
where you loved to sleep.

Charges have officially been withdrawn. Please read.

2022 and 2023 were interesting years with a lot of time spent in the street toe-to-toe with well known hate groups protesting our right to exist as queer people. Individuals with direct ties to the convoy and white supremacist groups in Canada and also the same people influencing the transphobic decisions of this current government. All of these attacks came accompanied by brutalization by Calgary police.

There were over 30 targeted queer events in 2023 alone. All of these protests eventually resulted in a useless “safe and inclusive access” bylaw from the city which was never enforced by Calgary Police or Bylaw enforcement. They protected the hate groups and brutalized us instead every single time. Cops would state that they have a right to express their beliefs, while death threats and hate motivated insulated were simultaneously spewed over loud speaker. This behaviour by police shouldn’t surprise you, considering what cops are.

Charges laid against people who harmed our community like Derek Reimer and Mahmoud Mourra have been dropped or acquitted, yet @taylormadeyyc still has 4 very serious charges stuck to her from one protest in attempt to silence her. This all happens because of silence and lack of direct action from the community. If people would speak out against this injustice and show up when you are being called to stand in solidarity, we could actually get somewhere.

I was asked why I bother counter protesting? Why not just ignore them and stay home? My answer is simple; If I saw that shit outside of my high school without also seeing a strong community standing up for me and my right to exist, I wouldn’t be here today.

Hate and intolerance must be challenged every single time. Police do not keep us safe. We keep us safe. Disrupt the status quo, even if that’s within your own community. by @daxonstone

If you have spent a year ignoring gen0cide then I hate to break it to you, but you have lost your humanity. I truly hope you find it before it’s too late.

Hiding behind your comfort and privilege will not keep you or anyone else safe. The clock is ticking for us to figure our shit out and in the meantime, the most marginalized will continue to suffer the most .

It’s not too late to start giving a fck. It’s not too late to start using your voice. You are not being asked to do everything, you are being asked to do something!

Find your place and fucking fill it 💛🍉

3 years since I quit smoking cigarettes. I have saved almost $11,000 and nearly 70 days in time that I would have spent just smoking. I even used to light Dylan’s cigs for him too until he quit a year before me. Choosing to quit at the end of the world was a choice but yay us right?! by @daxonstone
