Mandarin and mountain marigold pastries. Gospel whiskey worked into a canelé. Cream-filled orange and cinnamon morning buns. At Daybaker, @charliemduffy isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel but has the knack for giving familiar pastries just enough of a twist to render them irresistible. So much so that the Abbotsford bakery has been mobbed since it opened four weeks ago. Wow. What a couple of weeks!

Best Pastries in Melbourne

My new number one bakery in Melbourne is new kid on the block @daybaker.melbourne

From the pastry Prince @charliemduffy , which every pastry chef in Melbourne likely has a poster of him on their wall, is serving up the best baked goods Ive had in years and comfortably the best in this city.

I don’t say that lightly, I’m extremely hard to please when it comes to pastry. To turn me into a lover of tiramisu speaks for itself.

If there is one bakery you MUST try. It is Day Baker.

A new bakery in Abbotsford is already packed 🥐 @daybaker.melbourne

Daybaker comes from a former Small Batch pastry chef, and it’s quickly becoming one of Melbourne’s most talked-about bakery openings.

The pastries looked incredible and tasted even better — crisp, flaky, light, and packed with flavour.

If you’re a pastry lover, this is one to add to your bakery list.

멜버른에 또 하나의 핫한 베이커리가 등장했습니다.

막 오픈한 Daybaker는 Small Batch 출신 페이스트리 셰프가 만든 베이커리로, 이미 유명하신 분이라 더 많은 관심을 받고 있어요.

오픈 직후 방문했는데 이미 웨이팅이 있었고, 30분정도 대기했습니다.

Ask any Melbourne chef where they get their favourite pastries, and chances are they’ll say Charlie Duffy. Hugh Allen is a fan of the former Small Batch pastry chef’s cheese chilli twist, while Kate Reid recently called it the bakery she was “most impressed with”.
Now, after five years at Small Batch, Duffy has opened his own bakery in Abbotsford’s former Little Molli site. Alongside the laminated pastries he’s known for, there are roast chicken sandwiches on house-baked bread and Roman-style pizzas topped with puttanesca and stracciatella.
