Meet the people behind Daydreaming Objects- @rutapalionyte and @baranauskaite.ieva, the two Lithuanians based in Copenhagen.

Combining diverse skills, we create light objects that go beyond mere function, telling stories and infusing everyday spaces with dreaminess. Our practice is rooted in curiosity, material exploration, and experimentation - resulting in light objects and spatial installations that reimagine how materials can be reborn and experienced through light.

Luminaire U, from the upcycled vintage series.

A late-sixties Space Age luminaire, reimagined through its new wax light shade.

Among books full of stories, it continues its own. At Palanga Summer Reading Room, it meets SCOOPs and STEM in dialogue across space and time, material and form.

Moments from 𝘚𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘴: 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮, 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦 at National Library of Lithuania, @nacionalinebiblioteka in Palanga.

A pair of modular 𝘚𝘛𝘌𝘔 wax and light sculptures, varying in height and natural wax blend.

By day, they stand as quiet, solid forms. As light comes on, the wax glows from within, revealing the structure and variations of its organic material.

Placed within the Palanga Summer Reading Room, built around an old oak tree, the 𝘚𝘛𝘌𝘔𝘚 explore cycles of growth, renewal and regeneration, continuing a dialogue between light, architecture and living form.

Last weeks to visit our wax and light objects at Palanga Summer Reading Room - an iconic example of Lithuanian organic modernism, designed by architect Algimantas Čepys in 1966.

Celebrating 60 years of this very special place. 🤍

When Wax Turns to Light

The SCOOPs collection by Danish studio Daydreaming Objects turns organic wax into lighting objects with a surprising inner glow. After a stop at Milan Design Week, the series arrived in Copenhagen during the 3daysofdesign festival.

Created by Lithuanian designers Ruta Palionyte and Ieva Baranauskaite, the handmade pieces put sustainability first: The wax is biodegradable, and scraps are remelted and reused.

Unlit, the objects look like understated sculptures. Lit, they reveal a warm glow that reveals the material's natural character.

The collection has already won the Green Product Award 2026 and was a finalist for the Seoul Design Award 2025.

📍 Copenhagen
🕯️ Materials: organic wax, stainless steel and LED

The curved roof of Palanga Summer Reading Room, designed by architect Algimantas Čepys in 1966, embodies the waves of the Baltic Sea. A bend becomes a shared gesture between the architecture and Soft Solids wax-and-light objects.

A pair of modular wax-and-light sculptures, varying in height and wax blend. Stems explore cycles of growth, renewal and regeneration. Cast from our specially developed natural wax blends, Stems inhabit the Palanga Summer Reading Room - a space built around a more than 150-year-old oak tree. Together, the sculptures continue this dialogue between architecture and living form.
