Lower back microdermals or (“back dimples” dermals) are considered a high-rejection, high-migration placement.

Due to constant movement, pressure from clothing, friction, sleeping, exercise, and the anatomy of the area, dimples have a significantly increased chance of irritation, shifting, or eventually being rejected by the body.

However in this 1/10 situation the client and good friend of mine has what I would consider good anatomy for this piercing in this area which is rare. The skin is usually much to tight to even consider performing.

That being said even with good anatomy in an area much less likely to reject microdermals still can reject.

I do not generally recommend lower back dermals and usually turn them down in many cases.

This was a special case and I was happy to give them as the client was fully informed regular and I have pierced them a lot over the years so we felt comfortable give them a go.

Please understand:

No placement is guaranteed to be permanent
Anatomy and lifestyle matter significantly especially with this placment on dermals
Proper aftercare helps, but does not prevent rejection
Removal or loss is very likely though these do have a better chance than 9/10 due to the anatomy at least being decent
My priority in this case was safe placement, realistic expectations with its lifespan and healing process.
