What an incredible experience!

I’ve finally had time to digest the fact that I finished my first ever Olympic-distance triathlon.

It was a scorcher—35 degrees—and because of the heat, wetsuits weren’t allowed. I was already nervous about the swim, so that added an extra layer of overwhelm. But I trusted my training and made it through.

On the bike, I felt good at first, but the heat started to get to me and messed up my digestion. Any gels or electrolytes (now hot from the sun) didn’t want to stay down. My fueling plan went out the window, and I just had to focus on making it to the end.

The run started off rough because of my stomach, but once things settled and I cooled down with cold water at the aid stations, I found my legs again—and finished strong.

It was truly inspiring to see so many people from all walks of life giving their best and supporting each other out there. The crowd energy was incredible and helped carry me through the toughest moments.

Huge thanks to @zurichcitytriathlon for hosting such an amazing event, and to @rachelleascott for always being by my side and supporting me through this whole journey.

So now that I’ve had a taste—I’m ready for another. On to the next 💪 Follow me on my journey!

Training indoors helped me build consistency, but cycling outside has taught me things the trainer can’t:
⠀
🔹 How wind, gradients, and road surface actually affect your pacing
🔹 How to handle corners, descents, and staying alert for cars
🔹 How much more engaged your whole body feels on the road
⠀
The mental shift is big too — outdoor rides build confidence, decision-making, and that race-day focus you can’t replicate indoors.
⠀
I still use the trainer for intervals and time efficiency, but I’ve realized that riding outside is essential if I want to feel ready on the start line.
⠀
If you’re training for your first tri or just stuck indoors too long — this is your reminder to get outside. The road teaches you more than numbers ever will.

Getting away from everything and focusing on one thing.

Training for a triathlon has really showed me to be alone is not lonely. It gives you a breathe of air away from the stresses of everyday life and let’s you just be with yourself, your thoughts, and your training.

Even though you can do everything with others, in the end it’s always you being there with yourself working with yourself.

Trying to be consistent with an inconsistent work schedule can be difficult and sometimes frustrating. It’s important to plan your days ahead of time and to remember even if it’s not ideal you’re still moving forward and the doing anything is better than doing nothing. 💪

Stay flexible. Stay consistent.

Some days are more discipline than motivation. Remember your “why” and you’ll feel great that you did it.

A nice interval session to feel humble again.

30s Push 30s Easy for as many times possible hit hard in a good way. I mean it sucked, but was great.

Perfect if you want to work in your upper heart rate zones or if you’re strapped for time.

Swimming, biking, and running all build your central fitness — your heart, lungs, and aerobic engine. That means every time you train, you’re strengthening your foundation for all three sports. But your peripheral fitness — muscles, tendons, joints — is specific to each sport. So a long run doesn’t make your swim stronger, and a tough bike won’t necessarily make your run easier.

That’s why the slow, steady sessions matter more than they seem. They’re what quietly build your endurance across all disciplines — without wearing down your body. The ones where you’re not chasing speed… just time, rhythm, breath.

Learning to enjoy the slow parts of training has changed everything. That’s where real endurance is built — and where the love for this sport grows.

Beautiful day! Beautiful ride!

Sometimes with all the hard training we forget that we’re able to look up and see where we’re actually going. Feeling the sun on your face, seeing flowers blooming, with the best company makes it all worth while.

Enjoy your day as well as your training.

Not gonna lie—these bike intervals are spicy. But they’re the fast track to building VO2 Max. Has a huge impact without spending hours in the saddle. Quality over quantity.

This training is very much mental. When your body is at its limit it’s up to you to keep pushing through the fatigue and exhaustion. You’ll be proud when you make it to the end, because you went the hell to get there 💪

Remember:
- open your windows
- have a fan
- plenty of liquids
- towels!

I’ve been focusing lately on my cadence and running form. It’s crazy how small tweaks can have such a huge impact on the run.

Maintaining a slight lean forward, focusing on pulling my elbows back instead of lifting them front, and looking ahead instead of at the ground have been my main focus and have helped make sure I’m landing under my center instead of over striding, which has helped my body in general go the distance without pain.

Training for my triathlon has taught me that progress isn’t always about pushing the limit — sometimes it’s about pulling back. Last time I ignored the signs and pushed too hard, too fast… and ended up injured.

Now, I’m focusing on patience, pacing, and listening to my body. It’s humbling, but it’s working.

Beginner tip: Don’t chase speed in the early stages. Build a strong aerobic base first. Run slower than you think you should. It’s not about how fast you can go — it’s about how far you can go without breaking down.
