One of the biggest what-ifs in college basketball history.

Obi Toppin and Dayton were having a dream season in 2020, but COVID canceled March Madness before they could prove themselves on the biggest stage.

They were a team that deserved their moment in March. We’ll always wonder what could have been.

Bracketball 2026-27 Top 100 CBB Players

#25: Amael L’Etang (Dayton, C | Jr.)

Amael L’Etang has all the tools to become a highly sought after prospect and really nice NBA player at some point — especially in this era of the NBA. Teams’ desire to go after bigs that can stretch the floor at an elite level is at an all-time high and L’Etang fits the mold perfectly.

Last year, L’Etang was one of 5 big men 7’0 or taller to shoot 90 threes with a DRTG below 100. Amongst these five, L’Etang was second in 3P% and one of two to shoot the 3 ball above 35% (behind Veesaar — heal up big fella). And L’Etang’s DRTG isn’t the only defensive metric that proves his worth on that end of the floor; he was in the 90th %ile for DWS/40, 82nd %ile in DRAPM and 84th %ile in Block%.

You may look at those %iles and think there are bigs out there that have stronger defensive metrics than that, and you’d be right, but those guys typically stay in and around the paint on offense. As a matter of fact, of those 5 big men in that aforementioned group, L’Etang had the best defensive metrics — by FAR.

The shot is there, and it’s not going anywhere. If L’Etang can continue to bolster his frame and improve on the defensive end, becoming a real disruptor for opposing teams, he’s going to skyrocket up draft boards.

L’Etang’s projected line for 2026-27:

14.9 PPG
7.0 RPG
2.1 APG
1.5 BPG

It's an exhibition, so just improve from here. But gotta shoot better than 56.7% from the FT line if we want to win close games. taken in Lindner Family Tennis Center by @daytondynasty
