To my 12-year-old self and every young hitter chasing big goals:

Nobody is going to care about your career more than you do.

- Not your coaches.
- Not your teammates.
- Not your parents.
- Not your friends.

They can support you, guide you, and believe in you.

But at the end of the day, you’re the one who has to live with the work you did—or didn’t do. Stop worrying about what everyone thinks.

Most players spend so much time trying to impress other people that they forget the only thing that actually matters:

Becoming the best version of yourself.

Trust your path. Trust the work. Trust the process.

The players who make it aren’t always the most talented.

They’re usually the ones who stay consistent when nobody is watching.

As I got older, one of the biggest lessons I learned came from studying mental performance with the same sports psychologist who worked with Tom Brady.

The best performers don’t waste energy trying to control what everyone thinks about them.

They focus on what they can control:

➡️ Their preparation.
➡️ Their mindset.
➡️ Their effort.
➡️ Their response to adversity.

One day your playing career will end.

When that day comes, make sure you can look back and say:

“I gave everything I had.” No regrets. No what-ifs.

Just peace knowing you emptied the tank.

Power starts before the barrel ever moves.

The best hitters create it through how they prepare their body:

1️⃣ Hinge early
2️⃣ Coil into the back hip
3️⃣ Create separation
4️⃣ Build tension
5️⃣ Turn that tension into torque and let it release

You don’t need to swing harder to hit the ball harder. You need to move more efficiently.

What took me 4 years of Division I baseball to really understand:

• Talent only gets you so far. Once you reach college, almost everyone was one of the best players on their high school or travel team.

• Nobody cares what you did last year. Every season, practice, and opportunity is another chance to earn your role.

• Your development has to become your responsibility. Coaches can help you, but you need to know what you’re working on and actually have a plan to improve it.

• The weight room matters a lot. At higher levels, being stronger, faster, and more explosive becomes a huge part of separating yourself.

• You have to learn how to fail. Baseball will humble you. The players who keep progressing learn how to make adjustments without completely losing confidence.

• Being a good teammate matters more than young players realize. How you act when you aren’t playing says a lot about you.

• Consistency beats occasional motivation. The boring work you do every week matters more than one great workout.

• The mental side becomes more important as you move up. Everyone can play. Handling pressure, failure, competition, and uncertainty is what separates a lot of players.

I spent years learning these lessons through experience.

Now, a huge part of what I do with DB Precision is help younger players develop with the structure I wish I had earlier.
