A word about drills… I have a regular client where Copperplate is the preferred script… So I’m practicing capital D here as part of my warm-up. Nice and slow, perfecting that combination of smooth descender line, into narrow ascender body and then into the slightly shaded descender stroke with an upward turn right at the end. Luckily I came across this brilliant Copperplate Alphabet Practice Pad from @the.calligraphybox -makes it easy to reach quickly for the letters I want to focus on…working this way, my eye is constantly assessing the proportion and precision of the letterform… and it’s a lovely mindful way to spend an hour or so. Happy Sunday💫

Sound up for some lovely nib ASMR!

Working today on hand written Thank Yous for a charity dear to my heart @worldvisionuk Here I’ve drafted the layout of the narrative to ensure a perfect fit with the insert to go into the cards using a light pad to ensure the messaging in every card is consistent.

Hand made with love is always best… and calligraphy offers that magical moment of ink on paper, every stroke is unique. Here I wanted a delicate touch in the borders on the card and envelope to go with happy congratulations. No AI here!

Jane Austen 💫 with this little quote from Emma… Emma is one of those intriguing Jane Austen characters, somewhat vain, very self assured and a meddlers in other people’s love lives….

Cartouches make me happy! And…… they elevate a simple greeting to an eye-catching moment.

The touch of the nib
The catch of the ink
The pull on the downstroke
The dot of ink
