My first attempt at making oxidized Fireweed tea. 🍵

I managed to find a large amount of this on a recent dog walk, it's often found in full sun, but I managed to find a few large patches in the wooded area so the leaves are far more tender as they have been in shade or dappled like. I'm hoping this means the flavour will be less bitter, much like prized teas made from shaded Camellia leaves.

I didn't oxidize it for as long as I wanted as it took a long time to wilt, and then it was then quite late by the time it came around to oxidizing. I didn't want to leave it overnight in case it oxidized too much and ruined the flavour. So it has come out more of a greener oolong style tea rather than akin to a black tea. But it just tastes quite nice. I'm looking forward to see what it tastes like ageing for a few months

Fireweed, or Rosebay Willowherb, has been traditionally processed in this way to make tea for centuries in Russia, mainly known as Ivan Chai or Koporsky tea.

Will she like homegrown strawberries? 🍓

We seem to have an early ripe strawberry growing in the garden, so the perfect time to see what she thinks of them.

Looking forward to a bountiful harvest soon!

Dan & Higgins 🩷✨
The most glorious intimate wedding for these two gorgeous humans. The sun shone bright in The Lake District with a stunning celebrant led ceremony, and private vows out in nature. I’ll always adore smaller wedding days & this was just gorgeous
