Posting this sassy droid's dome... Because K-2SO said I had to.

Recently completed commission for a client in Australia, this is my print and paint-up of the Droid Division K-2SO head and base. Printed on both an Elegoo Centauri Carbon (in Elegoo PLA Pro), and on an Anycubic Photon Mono X2 (in Siraya Tech tough-build Resin), this build also features the eye lighting and movement kit from @jhighlandmade (a super easy kit to work with, I might add) to give K a bit more life on the shelf. As well as adding-in some found electronics components from computers and such inside his head, amongst which I "hid" the momentary on/off switch for the eyes - so you have to lift his head off to activate him, like in his "first activation" in Andor S2.

The droid head is painted in mainly automotive paints, with the notable instance being his main color, which is "Sophisto-grey" from BMW, which is a brilliant color on its own. Weathered in acrylics, and Vallejo weathering effects paints.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but better late than never! This piece was a blast to work on for my friend @amazinken1977 for his rad collection - the "Bat" Y-wing helmet, worn by Ekelarc Yong while flying Gray 3 over Endor. The base form is a vac-pulled "Rogue One" shell from @minutefett, painted with Archive-X acrylics, and featuring cast from original, printed, and found parts to compete the build.

he always makes my pieces look incredible!

Easily one of my favorite pieces yet!

Decided to post a few more pics of the 1/24 "studio scale" AT-ST as seen in The Empire Strikes Back, having some fun with it outside of the studio before the sun went down too much. The 3D model is from the inimitable Robert Cowley (same designer who made the concept training remotes I made a while back), and printed everything on my Photon Mono X2 in Epax Hard Resin (the stuff prints beautifully. Got the decal for it from Jason Eaton , with a combination of found springs and 20-ish gauge electronics wire for additional details.

Painted up in a combination of Tamiya Grey primer (solid hull color for the ESB AT-ST) and Archive-X acrylics.

A little personal project I worked on in between commissions. It is inspired by a sketch in the margins of the "Making of Episode 3" art book, as well as the scratch building methodology of the original ILM model builders back in the day.

It's built, mainly, from a 1:72 scale Russian Mi-28A Helicopter model kit, with other bits from armor kits of varying scales, Gunpla kits, as well as styrene bits and found parts. The stormtroopers are 3D printed, however. I used a variety of paints - mainly acrylics - for the colors and weathering, as well as dry pigments and some oils. It really was a fun little project to dig into for a bit.

I feel like these flight caps get better and better every time I'm commissioned to do one. This cap in particular is going home to Trent Runion (@bespinguy ) to round out his B-wing helmet display. This is cut, sewn, cast, and finished from the ground up by me. The replica AN-H-15 flight cap pattern, in 4 sizes, is a piece I've been working on and constantly iterating on since about late 2019/early 2020. The fabric is as close to the original in weight and weave as I can find today, as the original cap fabric hasn't been produced since the early 1960's, and the earcups are urethane cast from a two-part mold of an original pair I have. It's been weathered with dirty down and other "grungy looking" media.

Since this is for a B-wing helmet, the stamp on the top is an in-universe iteration of the "Army Air Force" stamp that's on the original caps. I also designed and had made for these replicas a sew-in label that is modeled after the Bates Shoe Co. label in some of the AN-H-15's floating around out there (there were a few companies manufacturing these caps for the war effort back in the 1940's).

Another Endor Luke helmet commission (I know, the AN-H-15 for Luke should have 3 snaps, not 4 - the 3 snap configuration is getting harder to find online), this time for @jeff.langlois.1238 . He snagged the original AN-H-15 and sent it to me to add the ribs, back "skirt", leather lobes, and Endor commando donut to. Originally the commission started with a slush-cast resin donut from Golden Armor, but I later replaced it with a vaccuformed ABS donut from "TheDragon", an RPF user from Australia. This is the most legit feeling Endor helmet I've done to date. I've done my best to match the weathering and scarring in the paint, and in the plastic - which I heated up with a small heat gun and pushed into the form with screwdriver handles and such.

It was a lengthy commission, but absolutely worth it in the end to have the ABS donut to finish up for it. Painted in a combination and weathered with a combination of Archive-X acrylics, Vallejo Acrylics, Tamiya rattle can paints, Dirty Down weathering sprays and dry pigments.

A pair of Blade Runner 2049 pieces I was sent - K's badge (Ryan Gosling), and a JOi emenator prop replicas. I originally worked on earlier in the summer with the paint and assembly, had been sent back to me by the client for a repair, as the JOi had fallen out of their display, and the badge needed to be repainted where a badge number had been added with a laser engraver. Both are really cool and the emenator, when I had initially worked on it, had some basic-level electronics and needed some surgery to add in a proper battery compartment.

Elsa's - and later Indy's - four leaf clover Zippo lighter from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It's been a while since I've done a custom painted Zippo for a client, so this one was both fun and creatively nostalgic for me. It started out as a plain, silver, Zippo that I lightly sanded, primed and painted the faces flat white. I designed a placement stencil for the clover and airbrushed the fade for the clover, and hand painted the outline and "veins" in the leaves with Vallejo acrylics (from, mainly their Model Color and Game Color lines). The final clear used over the design is a rattle-can 1k automotive gloss clear.

Nerf M41A1 Pulse Rifle from Aliens (one of three I was commissioned to paint, modify, and weather for a client. This is one of the two "Cameron Hero" rifles I did for this batch. The "Cameron Hero" is the prop you see Ripley wielding to "get acquainted" with the M41A1 in Aliens - and is the prop James Cameron kept for his collection after wrapping the film.

This one, is CH #1 in this commission. The latter photos are of it in the collection display at the client's home, waiting for it's two "siblings" to arrive.

And here is the finished Shuttle Tydirium model, along with the custom base I set up for it (it's partially scratch built, partially a reused bagel stacker). Overall this paint up was a blast, I really enjoyed working on a model - it was a welcomed break from props and costume pieces. The shuttle was painted up in Archive-X acrylics, over a primer coat of Tamiya Surface Primer (Fine).

Interesting side note about the dimensions/proportions of this kit is that it appears to follow the structural plans of the full-sized "set" version of the shuttle in RotJ, rather than the two (well, three) filming miniatures. This would explain the slightly steeper angle of the cockpit module, and shorter "neck" distance (imagine this thing in the landed position, and you're seeing it through the camera in your phone with the little Vader figure it came with originally, standing on front of it... It's like this model was meant to have more of it "in frame" when viewed like that).
