Some pieces just stand out. This was one of them.

One of my favorite tables we’ve worked on. This massive live-edge slab had started developing cracks and separations along the natural grain of the wood.

We repaired the damaged areas, completely refinished the surface, and went with a natural stain to let the wood speak for itself.

The grain, the movement, the character. Everything you see is what makes this piece so unique.

Getting to see this transformation from start to finish was definitely one of my favorite projects.

More than just a refinish.

What started as a complete restoration of this antique writing desk revealed a bigger issue: years of moisture exposure had led to mold growth inside the piece.

We removed the mold, addressed the interior, and completely refinished the exterior, bringing the beautiful natural wood grain and intricate details back to life.

Restored inside and out. Built to be appreciated for generations.

This door was falling apart from the inside.

Years of sun exposure and water damage had taken a serious toll. The wood was rotting, panels were separating, and the structure was beginning to fail.

We repaired the internal damage, reinforced the structure, and completely refinished both the interior and exterior.

The goal wasn’t to replace it. It was to preserve the original craftsmanship while making it strong enough to last for years to come.

A look inside our upholstery and restoration work at Hillsdale College’s Washington, D.C. campus.

Working under the design direction of Maxwell Imber, AFR completed a variety of pieces throughout the campus, including tufted leather benches, dining chairs, lounge seating, a sofa, and custom-fitted window cushions.

Each piece was carefully upholstered and finished to complement the character of its space while providing lasting comfort and durability.

Thank you to Maxwell Imber and Hillsdale College for trusting AFR with this project.
