I’m grateful to have been recognized as an SDG 10 runner-up at the Global Sustainability Awards - TiE Atlanta Chapter for the vision behind DMC Compassion & Care. Thank you to @kccorp and @tiehouston for their roles in making this recognition and the Houston gathering possible.

Although, not officially launched just yet. I’m building a pilot for older adults who want to remain in their homes but may have no one consistently showing up for them. The model is intentional: trained companionship, dependable visits, meaningful conversation, wellness check-ins, and connection to help when it’s needed. The goal is not a rotating stream of strangers. It’s trust built over time.

We’ve spent generations building programs to help young people enter life successfully. We need to care just as deeply about what happens in the later chapters. Food, transportation, and healthcare help people survive. Consistent human connection helps them know they haven’t been forgotten.

This recognition isn’t proof that we’ve solved loneliness. It’s encouragement to build the pilot, measure what happens, and keep improving it.

A good community partner is easy to find.
A good man with a real heart for people? That’s different.

Hate I missed this today, but I still wanted to show love to my guy @willhmerrick and everybody involved in making this happen. What y’all are building goes beyond real estate. It’s about community, opportunity, relationships, and creating spaces people can actually be proud to call home.

From the hospitality, to the conversations, to the intentionality behind bringing people together… you can tell when somebody genuinely cares about what they’re building and who they’re building it for. That matters.

Big respect to @whitestonehtx, @empowercdc_, and the @ankersolix_official team for pouring into Houston the right way.

If you’re in Houston, looking to buy, invest, connect, or simply be around people doing meaningful work in the city, I’d definitely encourage you to follow and support what they’ve got going on.

Love seeing good people win.
Love seeing vision paired with purpose even more. 🤝🏾🔥 taken in EaDo Houston by @dcas5

Some people become mothers by birth.
Some become mothers by sacrifice.

My Aunt Faye became mine when she took me in at four years old and decided that my life mattered enough to carry. She didn’t have to do that. She could’ve let somebody else figure it out. But she chose me anyway.

Growing up, I didn’t always understand her toughness. I didn’t always understand why she pushed me so hard, why standards mattered so much, why she refused to let me settle, fold, or make excuses for myself. But as a man now, I understand it better than ever.

She raised me to think for myself.
To stand on my own.
To handle business.
To move with integrity.
To protect people.
To survive hard things without letting hard things turn my heart cold.

When people tried to take advantage of me, she stood beside me.
When I was misunderstood or profiled, she spoke up for me.
When life got uncertain, she made sure I knew I was loved.

But beyond what she did for me personally, I watched her pour herself into everybody.

I watched her take care of her mother.
Her mother-in-law.
Her brother.
Family members when they were sick and vulnerable.
I watched her serve people over and over again, even when it cost her energy, time, sleep, and peace.

That’s where I learned what real love looks like.

Not social media love.
Not performative love.
Not convenient love.

Real love.

The kind that sacrifices quietly.
The kind that keeps showing up.
The kind that gives without keeping score.

“Your life is not lived until you’ve done something for someone who can never repay you.”

And honestly… that’s what this season of my life feels like.

Every single day.

It’s exhausting sometimes. I won’t lie about that.

But if God asked me whether I’d do it all over again for her?

The answer is yes.
Every single time.

Because there’s no version of my story where I become the man I am without her sacrifice.

So for Mother’s Day, I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for protecting me.
Thank you for raising me.
Thank you for showing me what serving others actually looks like.

I love you forever, Aunt Faye. ❤️ by @dcas5

I stand in the dark with my heart full of pain,
Life hits hard like the fall of the rain.
My love, once steady, now gone with the wind,
A bond that I thought would never end.
When times got tough, she slipped through my hands,
Leaving me lost in an ocean of demands.

My best friend ghosted, left me in the cold,
Chasing a love story, too young to be bold.
He couldn’t see the harm, the damage she’d bring,
Now he’s lost, and suffering.

I’ve lost my job, I’ve lost my peace,
My health’s on the edge, I can’t find release.
But I keep pushing, keep moving, keep fighting this fight,
Because my mom needs me, I can’t break in the night.
Her dementia steals moments, chips away at my soul,
Each memory slipping, leaving me less whole.

No break, no peace, just the weight of the world,
A smile on my face, but inside, I’m unfurled.
They say they understand, but they don’t really know,
The depth of this pain, the seeds that it sows.

I’m weary, I’m tired, but I trust in God’s plan,
Through the storm, I’ll keep walking, I’ll keep taking a stand.
My heart’s been broken, but I’m not done yet,
I’ll rise from the ashes, I’ll fight through the sweat.

So hear my words, hear the ache in my tone,
I carry this burden, but I’m not alone.
God walks with me, and I’ll never back down,
I’m building my strength, and I’ll wear it like a crown. by @dcas5

At the store or in the mall, at the clubs the ppl stare.. Are you Dominican? Are you mixed? Are you Creole or all sorts of weird ass shit! the question is always asked what are you?

Get out the car BOY before you get your ass beat.... as the officer pushed my head down on the hood off my ‘77 Caprice....in my hood on the stead how could this be... got this white policeman harassing the hell out of me...calling me names and asking me shit... and the question comes up what are you?

UH so convincing so I decided to go...but everytime I pulled out on Cullen, the police lights would glow....do I go straight on Cullen or turn left on wheeler ave.....licenses and registration hands on the dash...racial profiled by cops and then the question is asked....what are you?

I’ve been called KING DAVID as far back as I can remember... so there’s been no ifs buts or ands on who God chose me to be and Atlast I remembered what most couldn’t figure! What are you?

One of the most powerful men that his bloodline had seen!

Deep features of my grandfather with Melanin drops,
I’ve been Equipped with the right ammo to lead my people to top.

Afro latino Afro centric, Black that’s me... one thing that will never change is the blood that runs deep within me!
