Proud of this young man.

Sean left North Carolina to keep growing as a player and scholar-athlete where people knew basketball, treated him fairly, and let him earn it on the floor — by how he played and the work he put in. He didn’t start on JV most of his freshman year, then burst on the scene at @cannonschool. In two varsity seasons: two-time All-State, 1,000+ points, Conference Player of the Year, school and conference records. No. 1 scorer in North Carolina as a junior and among the top free-throw shooters in the country. Team finished second in the conference, beat the eventual champs (their only loss), and played a tougher schedule than most per MaxPreps. Prep Hoops was one of the few that recognized the production. Little left to prove. Offers and advocacy didn’t match it.

A friend pointed us to Curtis Malone — a DMV legend and one of the legends of travel basketball. He had the knowledge and integrity to give Sean a real opportunity. That led to multiple D1 offers, serious interest, and Gillion Academy. After visits to Oak Hill, Christ School, St. James and others, Gillion was the fit. Top team in the country last season. Grind Session — one of the most competitive high school leagues nationally. Toughest summer events, including DMV Live. Sean stood out against elite competition, led Gillion in scoring, and closed his last five games at 22+ PPG on strong splits, including 45% from three.

Thank you Curtis Malone. Thank you Coach Chris Wright, Quinn Cook, and the DC Assault (DCA) family. Thank you to the parents and everyone who supported him. Thank you Gillion Academy and the Gillion family. As the first day of class begins at Gillion Academy, here’s a video of some of my top 10 moments from Sean’s summer with Gillion and DCA — including the game-winning shot with DCA that stamped the program’s rebirth. Enjoy! by @dcassaulthoops

LEGACY! It’s not just about remembering the legends who came before you!

It’s about inspiring the next generation to carry it forward.

@dcassaultgrassroots class of 2036 is standing on the shoulders of giants, and one day, the generation after them will be standing on theirs!! taken in Washington D. C. by @dcassaulthoops
