The moment we’ve been waiting for…my mom is officially in remission and is CANCER FREE!!!!

It still doesn’t feel real. We have so much love and gratitude for everyone who helped carry us through this incredibly tough battle.

The last of 2025. Goodbye to the year that broke me into a million pieces. What it doesn’t know….is I always come back stronger. And while I may not be able to understand why yet, I know it will all make sense someday. As I walk into 2026, I pray for nothing more than peace, stability, and lots of laughter. Oh and 2026 will be the year that my mom beats cancer, which I cannot wait to celebrate ❤️ by @dccotrone

I remind myself everyday that trauma and grief can exist at the same time as smiles and joy. Because nothing is permanent and God can change your circumstances today, this month, this year. And when I start to lose hope, I grasp onto that with all I have.

I’m also reminded of this when I get little moments like I did this past week. Getting to celebrate another Thanksgiving with BOTH of my parents AND both of them under one roof for the first time in decades. And watching my best friend marry the love of her life and getting to meet all of the friends and family that love them so much. And ringing in another birthday for my bestie of 25+ years with her amazing and beautiful family. These are the moments that you learn to live in, to shut out the noise of all of the unknown.

So hold onto faith and hope. That what you need could be right around the corner. And in the meantime, bottle up the moments that help you feel like you again ❤️ taken in Chicago, Illinois by @dccotrone

If you don’t know her, this is my mom, my best friend, and my entire world, Dori 💛
Earlier this year she was told she had a “boring” slow-growing lymphoma. Six months later, everything changed. A new scan showed that my Mom needed spinal surgery ASAP to remove a large mass that was pressing on her nerves and causing mobility issues. The biopsy revealed stage 4 triple-hit diffuse large B-cell lymphoma — a rare and very aggressive cancer.
Starting October 6th, she begins six rounds of intensive 5-day inpatient chemo and spinal fluid treatments. It’s one of the hardest regimens there is, but also her best chance at remission.
My mom is my whole world. She raised me mostly on her own, worked three jobs so I could follow my dreams, and has always opened her heart and home to anyone who needed love or safety. Now she’s the one who needs help.
I’ve created a GoFundMe to help cover what insurance doesn’t: long hospital stays, lost income of 2 jobs, travel, home help, and keeping her strong through treatment. Any donation or share means everything.
