I’m fixing boo boo 2 on this custom coffee table build and sharing the process. Most clips are sped up to keep it short. The repair isn’t perfect, but I’m happy with how it turned out. I used the #shaperorigin #notsponsored to cut out the patch, just like I did with the legs in another video. These patches are tiny and this tool is a game-changer! What do you think? I hope the new year is treating everyone well! Here’s a little update of what I’ve been up to. This custom coffee table build has been a challenge to say the least but I’m happy with the progress so far. Despite some errors on my part, this short video shows how I resolved said issues. I’m almost at the finishing stages on this custom coffee table build and while doing a dry fit, one of the legs (option A) somehow got dented. Some probably would have left it but I decided to try and fix it with a patch. I used a cut off from the leg to match the color and grain as best as I could. I still wasn’t satisfied. I remade the entire leg (option B) but I cut 1.5mm too much resulting in a gap. I cut another patch and glued it in place and recut the notch. Can you see it? Most won’t. But if I can see it then someone else would too. Both repairs will be more noticeable when the finish is applied. But I think option B will be less noticeable. What do you think? Leave a comment! Here is the first of my #throwbackbuilds! This mini series of posts will consist of various projects I’ve built well before I started the business. This freestanding custom design and built entertainment center has been my largest project to date. I started this project in 2008 and it took 6 months to compete. To be fair, I was working full time, a part time college student and only worked on it a few hours here and there. I was 24 then, still lived with my parents and my “shop” was in their backyard under a covered patio. All the portable tools were kept in a shed and took a couple hours to set up and break down every time I worked. Keep in mind this is well before I had any of my fancy tools, proper design software and any real woodworking knowledge. This was a true challenge to build. I had basic woodworking tools with the exception of an entry level table saw, a limited amount clamps, a couple basic random orbit sanders and a ton of ambition to complete this massive task. The design called for dividers that looked like 1.5” solid wood panels, plenty of storage space, a lazy Susan, had to accommodate a 52” flat panel tv (considered large at the time) and best of all, had to be broken down into four components making it “easy” to build, transport, and assembled at my clients house. There were many challenges and frustrations during this build. At one point I had to walk away from it for a few months which is why it took so long to complete. For the first time in my woodworking journey I felt I took on too much and almost gave up. In the end, I got through my slump and got it done. I learned many things on this one project - making hollow components look solid, staining, and also finishing the whole piece with polyurethane just to list a few. Back then I had an iPhone 3G to capture the progress! Since then, I’ve lost a lot of pictures and videos capturing the build and this is all I have to show. This project was a truly a labor of love and it almost broke me. I’m hoping in the future I can build something as big if not bigger with the knowledge, skills and tools I have now! Here’s another #notwoodworkingrelated post! I am almost certain this right angle adapter doesn’t exist and yes, I’ve checked! So what do you do? 3D print your own! Recently, I invested in a #bambulabs X1C 3D printer #notsponsored because I got tired of spending hundreds of $$$ on 3D printed components for the business. A few months ago I came across @brewzr.3d who is a local 3D printing business near me. At the time, I didn’t have a 3D printer and needed a component printed. I contacted them and sent over a file I needed printed for one of my tools. Bruce, the owner, messaged me back with a few questions and took on the task. It came out perfect and it worked out great. We messaged back and forth at length about 3D printing within my workflow and ultimately decided to get one. After getting my printer, I needed help with this 90° adapter for my #festool dust extractor. I don’t think this adapter is available from Festool so we worked together to design something that would work. It took about 2 weeks and several revision’s and test prints (each test print took a little over 2 hours each) to get it just right! In the end, I was able to print a custom 3D part that met my needs all thanks to Bruce @brewzr.3d! Go check out his page and give him a follow!! Not woodworking related but I used my #jtech24w diode laser and #onefinitycnc to engrave some soccer medals for the shop manager and his teammates. It was a great season and so cool to see his growth in the sport. Go Green Dragonflies!! by @dccustomwoodwork

I'm thrilled to share the custom cabinet build I completed in June for LLFC Children's Ministry! This one-of-a-kind project was designed with durability in mind, featuring melamine plywood and #Formica laminate. With storage as the top priority, the result is 26 adjustable shelves and 2 deep drawers, complete with #salice soft-close hinges and under-mount slides.
