⛳️The ‘Sport for the Planet– Delivering Sustainability in Sport’ Conference took place at the Guildhall yesterday, a landmark event which celebrated a vital milestone of the PEACEPLUS Green Clubs programme, a transformative initiative led by North West Regional College in partnership with Council.

🤝This partnership has focused on empowering grassroots sporting clubs across our region establishing a proactive approach to climate change to build a sustainable future.

🗣Council's Cathy Burns, Climate Manager, Frank Morrison, Head of Strategic Projects & Ryan Deighan, Sports Development Manager brought a multi dimensional approach to the to panel discussions that took place throughout the day.

🌍 Sport for the Planet Conference 2026 🌱

Today the Guildhall welcomed delegates from across the sporting, environmental and community sectors for the Sport for the Planet Conference, a day dedicated to exploring how sport can help create a more sustainable future.

A huge thank you to all speakers, panellists, exhibitors and delegates who came along today.

Some really thought-provoking discussions took place on why sustainability matters now with expert panels examining sustainable sports venues, green skills and the role of sport in climate resilience and community wellbeing.
