To everyone who came to celebrate and honor my dad, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was amazing to see how he was loved and respected by so many, in all areas of his life, just as he was by us. We're thankful to God for my dad George and that we’ll see him again. As well as for this special day and for the love that surrounded us. Special thank you to our family who traveled all the way from Hawaii and the bay and beyond to be here. On February 11th at 11:54pm, my dad, George Sumaylo Jr. took his final breath. He didn’t leave alone. We held his hands and surrounded him with love, the family he raised and cared for and his wife of 54 years right beside him until the end. How do you say goodbye to the best man you know? The greatest father, grandfather, husband, uncle, friend & colleague. He was truly one of a kind, smart, hilarious, loyal and courageous. He was selfless with his family and in his career as an RT. He was respected and admired by all that knew him. People cared what he thought and really valued his stamp of approval. As a father, I saw no mean bone in his body, not an unkind word, not an ounce of criticism or judgment in all my life (even when it was well deserved). He was truly a gentle soul that lived to make people happy and make everyone laugh. He brought joy & laughter to every room he was in. He gave us a childhood rich in fun & experiences. A true San Diego boy at heart we grew up sailing, surfing, skating, dirt bike riding, camping, building forts, climbing trees and anything our hearts desired, he would make it happen. In addition to all the fun in the sun, Bob Theme on Sundays kept us grounded in bible doctrine & strong in faith. Married to our mom for 54 years until his passing, my parents stayed examples of what life could be. We won the lottery of dads and blessed that my children got to experience life with him if only for a while. Our hearts are broken, and putting this into words makes it feel painfully real. But we know he has gone home to God and in heaven he is healed, whole, and free from any ailments.

Thank you for all the prayers and supportive messages we have received from our friends, family and his colleagues. It truly helps us and means the world. This was the hardest, most sacred moment our family has ever experienced thus far. We are leaning on our faith and each other to carry us through the rest of our lives without him, trusting that this isn’t goodbye forever. We will see my dad again and I can’t wait. Until then, we’ll continue to love him, miss him and honor him everyday. 🤍🕊️🙏🏽 We love you Dad. Thank you for everything. by @dddoeshair

Thank you auntie Coco & José for planning this beautiful night. We love and appreciate you both ❤️🥹 The kids made beautiful ofrendas and it made me miss my dad so much, and reminded me how much the kids miss their grandpa, too. 🥹 But even though it hurts, it’s comforting to remembering his fun-loving spirit and keep his memory alive. He will forever be our family’s anchor ⚓️ 🤍 We have never been a part of a celebration like this but I absolutely love it. Such a beautiful tradition and I’m happy to take part in it with my bestie. by @dddoeshair

We took Seb & Bijoux to see @officialviolentfemmes at the Bellwether, such a good show btw and then to our favorite spots in Little Tokyo for late night snack. (Minus the bars😂) it’s all the small moments, time spent and conversations I really cherish. Happy Father’s Day to our rock. We met when they were toddlers, now they’re teenagers and then we added a lil Bird to the mix! You are the dad they needed and deserved and we are grateful for you everyday.
