SHIFTING FORMS - DAY 3 WORKSHOP RECAP. Well that sure was a fun day! 🌞 THANK YOU 🌿To everyone who showed up for the Shifting Forms Symposium this past sunny weekend at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, hosted by Spotted Fawn Productions and Basically Good Media Lab— THANK YOU!

We’re still buzzing from the energy, creativity, and knowledge shared by all of the amazing artists and storytellers. From matriarch talks to the VR Jam, every moment felt like a glimpse into a powerful future shaped by Indigenous storytellers. Here are some of the workshop photos from Sunday Day 3 - Stop Motion workshop with Dennis Jackson and hand and rod Puppet workshop with Dusty Hagerud 📸 Brenda Miller

This was more than a symposium — it was a collective moment of learning, witnessing, and imagining together. Stay with us for more!

1 spot left!! FREE Workshop Alert! Lights! Camera! Puppet! Hand and Rod Puppetry for the Screen.

Facilitator: Dusty Hagerud
Where: IMS Studio Emily Carr University of Art and Design
When: Sunday April 13 2025 at 1:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
Cost: FREE with registration :). Spaces are limited.

Check out the rest of the symposium events and register at: www.shiftingforms.ca

Producer, director, actor or a budding puppeteer, you will want to check this out if you plan to work with hand puppets for the screen. We will go over some standard puppetry departments and their functions, how to prepare for crewing up, important things to know and most importantly get your hands in some puppets and try some them onscreen. We hope to get you some good fundamentals and incorporate a huge dose fun. We will be providing puppets to try (if you prefer your own bring em) and a basic script to go from and you will be paired up so bring a good friend, comedy buddy or come alone and meet a new friend. You can use the script as a basis or abandon it completely and have some time on camera. Who knows where inspiration will take you next.

SHIFTING FORMS will take place on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

We hope to see you there :)

Made this adorable Teddy Bear for Maybeline Teddy Bear Tints. I wanted to keep it, so snuggly and soft. Get your snuggles with him for the next 4 days downtown Vancouver, and some Teddybear Tints. #maybelline #puppetmaking #vancouver #puppetmaker #puppets #teddybeartint #vancouverisawesome #colorsoundlab #puppetdesignandfabrication by @ddhagerud

Ten years ago Wolfie hit the stage puppeteered by the amazing Tara Travis in Axis Theatre’s production Rip A Winkle In Time. After the production closed I began to turn him into a live hand puppet as in his original state he was huge. Ten years later the writer got in touch to see if Wolfie still existed as they had rewritten the play and wanted Wolfie to reprise his role. This began the project of restoring him and making modifications and alterations. He will be better than ever. #puppetmaking #puppets#puppetryinvancouver #ripawinkleintime #colorsoundlab by @ddhagerud
