✨ dD+P is proud to share that studio member Chenyang “Jane” Yu has been selected for AIANY’s 2026 Civic Leadership Program (CLP).

Since joining dD+P as an Architect, in 2024, Chenyang has brought a thoughtful perspective on the economic and social impact of design. Through @AIANYCLP, she is exploring accessibility and public transit, with a focus on how redesign can turn missed opportunities into positive economic impact for communities.

It’s a perspective that aligns neatly with AIANY CLP’s stated mission:

“The AIANY CLP develops a class of emerging design professionals into civic leaders by refining the critical skills that these professionals need to better represent the people that they serve. We do this by increasing their connections to their communities, developing their advocacy capacities, and supporting their pursuit of public service in elected or appointed office.”

🌳 Last week, dD+P held its annual summer picnic at Ridge Road Park, in Westchester County, NY. This year’s World Cup theme brought together studio members, family, and friends for a fun-filled day of games, food, and summer celebration.

School’s out for summer, but fall prep starts soon for faculty. With that in mind, we’re spotlighting a favorite education project: The Rufus King School (PS 26Q), in Fresh Meadows, Queens.

This historic building needed more space, enhanced sustainability, and improved accessibility. dD+P’s 54,000 SF addition delivers, connecting old and new along a clear central corridor with new science and art rooms, accessible classrooms, solar panels, and a rain garden.

Developed in collaboration with the @NYCSCAgram, school leadership, and the community, the project reflects a shared belief: every child deserves an inspiring place to learn and grow.

🔷 With the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final coming to the New York metro area, @MTA stations will serve as gateways for visitors exploring the five boroughs.

That makes dD+P’s rehabilitation of four historic elevated stations in Astoria, Queens, especially relevant. By modernizing legacy infrastructure while preserving local identity, the project improved accessibility, reliability, and rider experience. It also helped establish a repeatable framework for future MTA station renewals.

Through adaptive design, real-time information, and community engagement, dD+P helped create a better experience for locals and visitors alike.

✍️ The @MetroForward Silver Line project started with a sketch. That early concept ultimately became a reinterpretation of Metro’s architectural legacy for a new generation of riders.

As the Washington, D.C., region extended Metro’s Silver Line to Dulles Airport and beyond, WMATA needed contemporary, above-ground stations that still felt unmistakably “Metro.” dD+P responded by transforming Harry Weese’s iconic barrel-vault motif from the original subterranean stations into a lightweight design reflective of Northern Virginia’s landscape, thereby creating the protype for eleven daylight-filled, naturally ventilated spaces that improve wayfinding, reliability, and the rider experience.

🌳 As summer temperatures soar, we’re seeing a greater need for sustainable, energy-efficient living solutions. Projects like the Pierson–Humphrey House, in Sleepy Hollow, NY, point the way forward. With Passive House strategies that help lower energy use, balance natural daylight, and support excellent indoor air quality, the home is designed for everyday comfort and long-term resilience. All-electric systems and a net-zero photovoltaic array keep performance front and center, while locally sourced materials add warmth, texture, and a strong sense of place.

“When I was a kid, I was very intrigued by painting and how things were technically put together. This eventually led me down the path of pursuing architecture. At dD+P, I enjoy creating spaces through problem solving and examining architecture through an art lens.”

🚇 The best transit facilities offer clarity, access, and comfort. They smooth away pain points so people can enjoy the journey in even the most time-sensitive moments. For New York’s Grand Central Madison terminal, dD+P helped deliver such an experience for the long-awaited 750,000 SF extension. With a focus on wayfinding, graphics, artwork lighting, digital advertising, and other station enhancements, the firm delivered a more intuitive, modern arrival into Manhattan’s East Side. The upgrades also reduce travel times for @MTALIRR customers and make transfers to @MTAMetroNorth lines smoother, resulting in a commute that feels frictionless.

🏊 Built in 1925, the natatorium at the James Monroe Campus, in the Bronx, was beginning to show its age. Despite good bones, it needed upgrades to meet today’s demands.

Working as a subconsultant to @IMEGCorp, dD+P helped bring it back with new windows, modernized spectator seating, watertight pool reconstruction, upgraded filtration, improved mechanical ventilation, and an ADA-accessible deck. Today it’s a competition-ready facility where students can train and race.

Last week, the ribbon cutting made it official, bringing First Deputy Mayor Dean Fuleihan, @NYCSCAgram President & CEO Nina Kubota, and project partners together to mark what the renovation makes possible.

📖 @Columbia University’s Butler Library needed a 21st-century upgrade, one that wouldn’t sacrifice the elegance of its 1934 James Gamble Rogers design.

In collaboration with Shepley Bulfinch, dD+P helped make that happen. Inside, the team revamped study spaces and stacks, modernized climate-control systems, and created a new rare books section. Outside, we replaced the roof, restored the façade, and rebuilt the north entrance plaza, all while coordinating the redistribution of more than two million volumes.

As a result, Butler remains what it has always been: an icon of learning. Now, however, it’s ready for what comes next.
