Excited to share that •Be Vardų, Be Kojų• will be traveling to Montreal as an interactive installation! Part of @mutekmontreal @village.numerique August 20-September 3 SAT Gallery (Galerie SAT) This iteration, •Traces•, invites folks to dance with alternate dimension Lithuanian aliens. Walking paths of male and female specific folk dances, the walker remixes/punks/rechoreograhphs these traditional dances. How do we continue to participate in traditions that don’t recognize us? Can traditions expand while honoring their origin? Composer: Sergei Kofman @measure.music (catch his performance at Mutek on August 29!) Hope to see you there! “Be Vardų, Be Kojų” (2023), the short film iteration, will be shown at this years flashDRIVE @interaccessto . This iteration is the birthplace of all of the other iterations of @be_vardu_be_koju and shows 8 aliens dancing in/with each other. This work will be available for purchase and part of the proceeds will go to InterAccess. Super excited to be showing alongside so many other amazing new media artists! Thank you @skyfinefoods for putting us all together <3 Come see the work TONIGHT at the opening party from 7-10PM or come anytime during gallery hours. Hoping to dream of new realities @interaccessto ! We’ll start by taking a deep dive into the world of •Be Vardų, Be Kojų• — following the desire to create a queer-Lithuanian folk dance tradition into glitch and live motion capture! Then, we’ll put these ideas into practice by learning some folk dance phrases together and observing the mirror dimension of queer-Lithuania mimic us through glitched/alien bodies. No previous dance experience is required - just a curious mind! Be Vardų, Be Kojų: a @summerworksfun wrap up! . Beginning as a glitch in a photogrammetry exploration, this project has grown into an ambitious, experimental dance work using live-motion-capture, Punking/Whacking/Waacking, and Lithuanian folk dance. . It was an absolute treat to finally premiere this at SummerWorks! A full year to work on this iteration and 2 more before that gathering and researching, and I’m amazed at what has come forth. . I have so much energy for this iteration and I can’t wait to share it more! (this little slide only holds so much of the process) . ✨ Wrapping up our time at the 35th SummerWorks Performance Festival in Toronto! @summerworksfun As Associate Artists (2025–26), we had the honour of fully diving into the whole Festival this year — presenting our new dance-technology project Be Vardų, Be Kojų with the incredible Brigita Gedgaudas @de.brii and taking in the full sweep of SummerWorks programming: from theatrical and site-specific performances to open studios, panels, long table conversations, and creative gatherings. We had the chance to meet legendary OGs of Toronto’s performance scene, connect with inspiring presenters, producers, and artists from locally, across Canada and internationally, and even connecting with directors from Taiwan’s embassy. We also got to reunite with many wonderful old friends. Along the way, we discovered new venues, parks, and hidden corners of Toronto. This is indeed the best way to get to know a city. 🌿
 A huge thank you and congratulations to the entire SummerWorks team on 35 years of such important work! We feel deeply grateful to be part of this legacy and community. We’re also thrilled to be partnering with SummerWorks on a special Creative Archive initiative — celebrating the Festival’s history through the eyes of emerging artists. Big shout out to our brilliant interns Julianna Heft @juliannaheft and Catie Thorne @catiethornee who will each be creating digital media projects archiving past SummerWorks performances. Stay tuned as their work unfolds! Here’s to building, connecting, and imagining together. 💫
