My favorite message I captured at @fiveconference.

“Put that business card back in your pocket. Get off that social media trying to network in the inbox. The Lord said your season of trying to work it out on your own has come to an end.”

When I heard this, I instantly cried. For a while I found myself relying on my own strategies to push my passion, often using those results to measure my own personal success. Thing is, despite the results good or bad, I found myself chasing a version of success unable to be obtained on my own, thus stuck in an endless cycle of madness…messaging strangers in efforts to build my clientele, planning no show shoots with people who had no prior knowledge nor respect for my business to take the opportunity truly serious to begin with. You think you have something under control…things are going good, then boom…one setback now you’re upset at yourself. My pastor’s word quickly reminded me that everything truly happens in God’s timing. Yea you still have to plan and prepare and put in some work, but the focus should be putting the reigns and your faith in God’s hands, not your own, not in fear, and not in worry.

Life, my mental, and my faith have been in a much better place since. 🙏🏾 by @de.rouen

My first @fiveconference last year was special because it helped me build a foundation for a life I never envisioned, and honestly, didn’t even know I wanted to live. Years of fear and doubt seemingly washed away just days later, immediately after my baptism. My purpose became clearer, and the 365 days after my first FIVE provided more than enough evidence.

God is truly real.

This year, however, might’ve been just a little more special. I thought I knew what to expect, but God’s timing is truly divine. I realized that what started as a foundation last year was never meant to be the finished product. God wasn’t just showing me who I could become, He was preparing me to actually walk in it. My prayers changed. The people around me changed. My perspective changed. I changed. And somehow, God was still showing me that He wasn’t finished.

Last year, I came searching for direction, unsure of what my life could look like if I truly surrendered it to God. This year, I didn’t come searching for purpose. I came carrying evidence of what happens when you surrender to it.

If this is what God has done with the foundation, I can only imagine what He plans to build on it. by @de.rouen
