It's been about a week since the Edinburgh Fringe 2026 officially began and what a week it's been!
I'm back working for @darkfield_org as well as another company who'll get their own post once I have a decent photo or two!!

Absolutely loving the vibes at #edfringe this year and great to see a lot of familiar faces from all over the world.

There's an incredible selection of shows to see this year, and I'm doing my best to pack in what I can around work.

With only a week to go I finally have good enough pictures to post about @whathappensinthedarkplay a lovely LA based show that I have been operating the tech for this month alongside my shifts in shipping containers.

This might be the closest thing I do to a sponsored post as I was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of a complimentary ticket to @awkwardprods latest masterpiece.
This is a beautiful, moving piece about a real hate crime that happened to Linus a few years ago in Soho, a combination of deeply personal and serious, and the delightful campiness that I've come to expect from their shows.

As a queer (ex) Londoner, the situation is depressingly still close to a common experience and fear, but that's not what I want to post about, if you want to reflect on that go see the show!

To call the set simplistic is an insult to some very clever design work, at once sketchy and yet very polished. It was immediately evocative of Soho, with some delightful little nods to London culture, modern political issues, and their previous shows, while also being flexible enough to double as multiple locations.

Go see Linus Karp Was Hit With An Umbrella at 20:20 while you still can! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll commit to small or large acts of queer kindness!

We are less than a week for E1 of Court of the Magi now, and I have been radio silent for much longer because posting on insta is the least fun part of making props.

There was an entire fringe run this year I still haven't documented and we're nearly at the end of the year. Time flies.

This is a book of the families in play at the game and their genealogies, also featuring your first look at the "stamp of authenticity" we are using to indicate documents produced by the games team within the player space.

This book couldn't have been finished without the lovely advice of @anachronalia and the beautiful work of @marbledgifts front and centre on the cover.

WEEK ONE WRAP-UP of the #edfringe25

Time is meaningless but today was a day off about a week in to the Fringe so today gets the wrap up of everything I have seen, not in the order I saw them.

I failed to get photos of everything but I got flyers or starting states of a lot of them, so you get what you get.

Starting with my absolute Pick of the Fringe for this year (I know it's early but) I don't think anything is going to beat SLUGS by @thecreepyboys !
Hot on their heels were @midnightatthepalace , Timonopoly at the Storytelling Museum, Degenerate at the Pleasance and @dogmouththeatre 's Sluts with Consoles.

I've also delighted in seeing A Teen Odyssey, @downtochanceplay , @yes.ya.yebo , Fly, you fools by @recentcutbacks , Waxen Figures, Stardust starring Star Dust by @mcgarrk , Cadaver Palaver by @barewitnesstheatre , @summerflingfringe by @stagonline (represent!), Tapeface 20 and last but not least I timed my popping into the fast fringe well andanaged to briefly catch the endlessly funny @comedylopez

15 shows in... 6 days feels pretty damn good so far, though I'm not sure I can keep up the pace. Obviously this doesn't include my runs through DARKFIELD shows, because I'm still not tired of the seemingly infinite variations of ARCADE.

I'll edit in socials as I find them, feel free to comment or message them.

At 12 o'clock today the first show of EULOGY by @darkfield_org opens!

Starting the 2025 Fringe adventure -very- early this year.
Not only am I already in Edinburgh and ready to start work next week, but I was DELIGHTED to see @daisydorismay 's WIP version of the #BigNightOut in Manchester on Tuesday. Solid recommendation to catch that next month in Edinburgh!
I'm going be backstage for @darkfield_org for August, and other than that I'll be supporting @strangelilstories in making Poor Life Choices in the latter half of the month.

I was lucky enough to make it to the final day of puppet making workshops with @factory_international, under the tutelage of the amazing @alison_duddle and get stuck in with finishing off Manchester 's contribution to @the__herds and the start of #manchesterinternationalfestival for 2025!
Next week is solid rehearsals before I get to also act as one of their puppeteers in Manchester, Rochdale and Wigan, though I'm not allowed to share rehearsal photos hopefully there will be footage on the days.

I don't want to steal valour, the puppets -especially the wolf- were largely built before the day's workshop started, but at the same time I feel like I did a lot towards getting it performance ready.

I'm also building one of their website puppets at home currently, so look out for a future pangolin puppet.

Starting my run up to August and #edfringe25 early this year with a hop over to @watersidearts_ Manchester and a delightful evening of music, storytelling and a bit of queer history on the recommendation of the ever wise #dykestowatchshowswith

If I get the chance I'd love to see how this evolves in the next few months and catch it again at @underbellyedinburgh

And yes, I will be at the #edinburghfringe again this year, working with an amazing team on a few different shows, but a lot of that will have to stay under wraps for a bit longer!

The intention has always been that I would post when I saw things at the theatre, I have failed that almost universally as I get too excited in the run up and then forget in the aftermath. (Maybe there will be a sum up post at some point)

Regardless I am here early today so! @aknightstalemusical tonight at @palaceandopera , with what feels Iike some of the best seats in the house.

In preparation for The Equinox Institute last weekend I made two light up cigarettes and their boxes, along with the appropriate warnings.
No smoke/vape by request but as it was a horror event, half happening in the dark being a viable target because of a glowing cigarette end was important.
