Frequent afternoon storms have refilled the ephemeral pools, and the indigenous shrimp species couldn't be happier! 🦐Large, active tadpole shrimp, fairy shrimp, and clam shrimp can be seen swimming in several, water-filled depressions in the sandstone of Dead Horse Point. These shrimp were born, and will spend their whole lives, here in the park! After the pools have evaporated, shrimp eggs remain dormant in the loose sand at the bottom of these depressions, awaiting the next rainfall to re-emerge. In the meantime, our shrimp enjoying the abundance of algae, bacteria, and organic detritus found in the muddy waters of their home. Please respect these creatures and their habitats. Do not touch the pools, remove or add material, or otherwise interfere with the wildlife of the park! But absolutely feel free to check them out! Visiting Dead Horse Point Overlook? Consider hiking the East Rim Trail, a 1.5 mile path connecting the Visitor Center to the Point.Along the East Rim Trail, you'll ascend to the top of the mesa, and wind your way through stunning geology, passing through native shrublands with views of the Behind the Rocks area, La Sal Mountains, Colorado River Basin, and beyond. At Dead Horse Point, you can link up with the West Rim Trail to complete a 4.5 mile loop of the park! Numerous spur trails and overlooks branch off from each of the Rim Trails!Not looking to hike? That's alright! You can drive directly to Dead Horse Point Overlook! Ample parking, restrooms, and viewing space is available! by @deadhorsepoint

We're not like other parks 😏In this video, we'll show you how to get around Stage 2 fire restrictions 🤫 and secretly have your very own campfire during the ban! ...Yeah, no.Stage 2 fire restrictions are not a suggestion, and they weren't put in place haphazardly. Here in southeast Utah, we love s'mores and burgers just as much as you do, but, with extreme wind, drought, and wildfire activity, we all have to make sacrfices. No open flames of any kind are allowed at Dead Horse Point State Park this season! Devices using pressurized liquid or gas fuels (stoves, grills, or lanterns) with a shut-off valve are allowed when used at least 3 feet from flammable material.Thank you for helping keeping the park, its visitors, and yourself safe this summer at Dead Horse Point State Park!#fireban #deadhorsepoint #statepark #utah by @deadhorsepoint

Our park is pet friendly!🎉🐾 And we absolutely love seeing your fur babies enjoying our park, but we do have a few requirements:Pets must be kept on a leash (6ft or less) at all times!
