Unfortunately Frank bought it hardcore, so rather than buy a new transmission I traded up. This here is Atticus, a 1989 Mercedes 300 SEL, and unlike Frank most of him works. My entry to the #madmocstournament, the twin turbocharged Lincoln Continental MK. IV “Catalyst” and its crew for hire.

The Crew: The Bulwark, a powerhouse of brute force who provides the necessary intimidation and raw strength from behind a cold iron mask. The Hound, leader of The Crew, a brutal swordsman and tracker supreme, who can find any quarry and make them regret running. The Scarecrow, sniper extraordinaire, known for long shots and short conversations, who never has to shoot twice. And of course The Crew’s mascot, maybe the last cat on earth, Junk. According to wasteland legend, Junks size, ferocity, and appetite vary based on the size of the bounty on your head. Arguably the most feared member of the crew.

And The Catalyst is their chosen instrument of destruction. A 1975 Lincoln Continental MK. IV equipped with a 603 horsepower twin turbo V-8, there’s nothing this beast can’t chase down or outrun. Armed with a ragged jaw of blades and a custom mounted full auto shotgun turret, anything that gets close gets shredded. It carries with it two deployable motorcycles armed with explosive javelins for multi pronged attacks and maximum intimidation. Any poor soul with a bounty on their head knows that the whistle of the turbos and the snarl of the engine spell their fate out better than any written language. Between 3 seasoned mercenaries, a ravenous cat, and their chariot of violence, The Crew are figures of legend.

A new member has been added to my small automotive family. Presenting, live and in person, Frank! A 1983 Mercedes 240D W123, Frank is the slowest car I’ve ever driven. He’s far from perfect, but with some time, love, and of course money I’m sure he’ll be a stellar driving machine. I can now say I drive a Benz AND a Lexus. Not to worry, the LS 430 is here to stay.
