It was an incredible yet emotional night celebrating Disability Pride Month by seeing Lady Gaga

I am far from the first person to take inspiration from Lady Gaga, but as a disabled person seeing someone who turns their disabled experience into artistry has impacted me beyond words. As I was sewing my outfit for the show and pushing the limits of my abilities (first time making a corset and making my own shoulder pads!) I kept reflecting on how freedom of expression is essential to the disabled experience.

We are currently living in a time where 3ugenics is back on the table. Where disabled people are only given the option to hide or to die. How important it is that we must demand a seat at an accessible table. How important it is to be seen, to be understood, and to have our experiences celebrated.

@ladygaga, thank you for making me feel seen, celebrated, and inspiring me to push myself outside my comfort zone. You were one of the first openly bisexual icons I could look up to. I am forever thankful and honored to be able to see myself in you.

I got my first haircut at 18 & 1/2, it was just below my chest I thought it was so short!

Reclaiming my hair as something fun / just for me has been such a healing journey. Growing up my hair was tied to femininity & it made me feel disconnected from myself & my assigned gender at birth. Now I see my hair as something beyond the binary 💜

Had so much fun celebrating @olivia.luna’s birthday this past weekend! I made her Pisces birthday dress & it’s probably one of the best dresses I’ve ever made I’m so proud of how it turned out! Thank you so much for trusting me with this project you looked so ethereal as always & I was so happy that I had the opportunity to make your Pisces dreams come true 💜

Your birthday trip was truly so magical & I can’t wait to visit Santa Cruz with you again! Seeing everyone come together for such a special event full of love is something I wouldn’t have missed for the world!

I worked on this dress for about a month so I’m sharing a few of the progress pics throughout the process of making the dress:

First I made a mockup out of an old bed sheet & did a mockup to fit it before cutting into the nicer fabric. The bodice is machine stitched but the 3 layers of gathered fabric for the skirt, the zipper, and the fish appliqués on the front & back of the bodice were all done by hand totaling around 16 hours of hand stitching alone. Then more try-ons were done to adjust the fit even more! This dress probably took me in total ~ 24+ hours from printing the pattern to the finish line

I deal with a lot of imposter syndrome with stuff I create so seeing everyone’s reaction was mind-blowing! It helped me see past my mistakes & focus on the fact that I did that!!

Happy 30th birthday to the Tracy to my Penny!
I love you so much 💜 I wrote you the sappiest card so I’ll try to cut the waterworks here but it has truly been such an honor to be by your side for these past 7 years. You have changed my life in endless ways & I am so lucky to have a best friend who gets me to my very core. I love making you outfits, watching tv, & our endless conversations about everything & nothing at all! @valhellla happy 30th! It’s not strange that I don’t need space from you but seeing Louis the child & so many other shows together, laughing with endless inside joke, getting mad at Mario Kart, having balloon battles, & just hanging around with someone so special fills my heart. You are so strong & inspire me to keep pushing at my lowest points & I’ll never forget all the things you do for me even in the small moments like making me buttered noodles when I got too messed up, letting me use the family computer when you wanted to play where in the world is Carmen San Diego, & letting me spend Friday nights with you so I can make it to work on Saturday. I can’t walk this life without you by my side. You’re not just my brother, you’re an a amazing person who brings people together no matter how far they might be.
